Job Description:


The Operations Specialist will learn various rating functions & processes in order to support Underwriting with critical data necessary for their risk pricing process. They will review, analyze and prepare rating for multiple lines of business. An Operations Specialist will develop their knowledge through self-study courses and formal rating training.


What you will do:

  • Ensure policy transactions are rated, booked, invoiced and issued accurately and meet the corporate time service standards. Such transactions may be quotes, new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations.
  • Screen transactions to determine proper processing. Refer transactions to underwriters that require their approval, complete transactions directly if within delegated authority limits.
  • Classify automobiles, assign General Liability class codes, complete Workers Compensation concentration worksheets with final approval by the underwriter.
  • Assist in quality verification of all policy transactions, processes and procedures.
  • Report policy data to third party reporting agencies such as the Workers Compensation bureaus and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Resolve criticisms from those reporting agencies to meet internal and external guidelines.
  • Communicate, as needed, with Accounting, Audit, Loss Control and Reinsurance to answer policy questions and resolve issues.
  • Work with system support to test releases when the verification of successful programming involves a review of the production environment.
  • Electronically print documents into the imaging system, page mark and label the documents appropriately adhering to the corporate protocols.
  • Communicate, as needed, with producers to obtain information required to complete transactions, etc. Contribute to service excellence by answering producer questions in regards to policy status and insurance inquiries.

What you will bring to C&F:

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Insurance policy processing experience a plus
  • Detail oriented with the ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to follow protocol with an emphasis on quality and customer service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and other software applications
  • Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills in person and over the phone
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels to comply with C&F's risk management controls
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will be highly motivated with a positive outgoing personality, possess and entrepreneurial spirit, have a customer service aptitude, and comfortable in a fast paced environment.
