As a Credit Risk Manager in Asset Based Lending, your responsibility will be to: i) Underwrite credit exposure for new ABL customers and ii) Manage an assigned portfolio of Commercial Banking clients who have Asset Based loans and all other related exposure. Credit Risk Managers perform all necessary credit analysis, due diligence, and negotiate legal documents on new transactions. On established portfolio accounts, Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship with CB Middle Market Bankers who manage the overall relationship along with ABL Originators.

As a contributing member of the deal team, Credit Risk Managers manage complex transactions to completion with minimal guidance from your immediate manager. The role involves extensive interaction with clients, other product partners, internal and external legal counsel, lenders, consultants and investors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in underwriting of new to ABL transactions. Perform due diligence including analysis of historical and projected financial performance, collateral analysis, company and industry assessment. Recommend appropriate structure, prepare credit approval document and lead credit approval process. Amount of time spent on underwriting dependent on size and complexity of portfolio.
  • Lead all aspects of the credit relationship, including credit analysis, financial modeling and coordinating credit approval for all products including loans, derivatives, leases and cash management
  • Proactively support and enhance client relationships
  • Leadership role in assigning and assessing internal ratings, risk assessment and risk mitigation. Recommend changes in structure or account management strategy to address negative trends. Assess monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and borrowing base reporting
  • Leadership role in structuring and negotiating Credit Agreements, point person on all amendments and waivers. Manage and monitor loan products including affirmative, negative and financial covenant compliance. Manage ongoing communication with bank group members as well as with other team members.
  • Interpret collateral appraisals and field exams. Ongoing monitoring of collateral trends and liquidity, establishing reserves and recommending appropriate course of action to address issues
  • Partner with Bankers, Debt Capital Markets, Treasury Services, Leasing, Derivatives and Loan Operations
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with Senior Management to elevate credit issues, respond timely to regulatory requests and maintain internal credit files
  • Train and mentor junior team members

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Strong analytical skills are required
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, financing structures, derivatives and cash management products as well as related documentation
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
