Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping change the lives of students in Hillsborough County Public Schools. The Take Stock in Children (TSIC) College Success Coach is responsible for coordinating and implementing college readiness activities including preparation of workshops/seminars for high school students. This position also includes direct interaction with students and/or parents, mentors, and school employees.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets one-on-one or in groups with students in the TSIC program to monitor and track students’ academic performance, attendance and behavior.
  • Monitor and track students’ academic performance, attendance and behavior.
  • Identify potential problems and intervene when necessary to ensure student success. This may include direct intervention with students and/or parents, mentors and school employees.
  • Implement, document and monitor a student intervention plan for students not in compliance with their contracts.
  • Monitor student/mentor session effectiveness and communicate with the mentor and Mentor Coordinator directly to resolve any issues.
  • Assist students with all aspects of college readiness and preparation.
  • Organize and facilitate college readiness workshops and/or seminars for the TSIC students.
  • Ensure transferred students meet eligibility requirements by monitoring students’ geographical location to ensure transfer of scholarship is successful. Send out notification letters and issue TSIC county transfer paperwork when required.
  • Ensure program eligibility by following the policies and procedures for student selection.
  • Ensure program eligibility by confirming students have provided proof and met income requirements for the Free and Reduced lunch program and that all required paperwork is completed and filed.
  • Ensure students and parents have a complete understanding of the Scholarship Agreement/Contract and release forms.
  • Work closely with school coordinators, college staff and other school personnel.
  • Promote the TSIC program and scholarships at assigned schools.
  • Work with the high school guidance counselors and college career counselors to publish information for the students concerning the online scholarship application dates and process.
  • Develop and maintain formal partnerships with local colleges and universities to establish resources available to TSIC college students and ensure the TSIC college students are supported.
  • Monitor student college readiness tracking in STAR database including workshops attended, college applications and colleges accepted, FAFSA completion, scholarships obtained and test scores.
  • Complete assessments, student success plans, documentation, data entry, and maintain files on students to ensure program is in compliance.
  • Maintain the TSIC student and HEF/TSIC database to monitor and track students.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience in education field preferred.

Experience in public speaking.

Bilingual English and Spanish a plus.

Dependable transportation is required.

Ability to travel to events, which may occur in the early mornings, evenings or on weekends.

Ability to attend annual conference which requires overnight travel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,100.00 per year
