Responsibilities:
Position Overview:
Coder II, Ambulatory Medical Billing codes all physician and hospital charges, and ensures completeness of the medical record in accordance with the accrediting and regulatory agency requirements. Coder II, Ambulatory Medical Billing is responsible for assigning the correct code to describe the type of service a patient will receive. Ensures the codes are applied correctly during the medical billing process, which includes removing the information from documentation, assigning the appropriate codes, and creating a claim to be paid by insurance carriers. Acts as a liaison to physicians and other parties to gather and establish the accuracy of information.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current CPC, RHIT, CCS or equivalent coding certification
- One (1) year of coding experience
Preferred:
- One (1) year of outpatient coding experience
- One (1) year of physician coding experience
- One (1) year of HCC coding experience
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Detail oriented, and able to work independently
