DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONCodes and abstracts hospital inpatient and ambulatory records for the purpose of reimbursement, compliance with Federal regulations and data collection. Using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems, analyzes and reviews records for diagnoses, operations, procedures, co-morbid conditions and additional data items. Inputs abstracted clinical data into the hospital computer system.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification from the American Health Information Management Association of one or more of the following.

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
-
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
-
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
-

2 years experience and also recent experience working as an Inpatient Coder in an Acute Care Setting.

Experience preferred with coding ambulatory cases.

Experience with Meditech and Clintegrity +.
