SUMMARY

Sets up and operates variety of stationary and hand held woodworking machines including computerized numerically controlled (CNC) operated machinery and uses various hand tools to cut and fabricate component parts for cabinet construction by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and are intended to represent the principal elements of this position. They are not totally inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

· Interprets shop drawings, blueprints to determine quantity and sequence of parts to be cut and machined.

· Insures proper fit of all cut components into complete cabinet cases.

· Uses existing jigs and fixtures in conjunction with machinery to cut and machine cabinet parts and components.

· Develops and modifies new and existing fixtures as needed to cut and machine new or different cabinet parts and components.

· Sets up and operates CNC beam panel saw, CNC machining centers, automatic edge-banders and other woodworking machinery and equipment in order to perform correct cutting and machining operations.

· Demonstrate proficiency and fluency with operating software systems required to operate automated equipment.

· Operates lift tables, pallet jacks and forklift equipment to move raw materials and parts as needed.

· Performs work in an organized and detailed fashion in order to ensure continuous product flow through department.

· Organizes and neatly stacks parts and components into designated storage receptacles and racks.

· Performs duties as cabinetmaker as required or requested.

· Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and related experience in woodworking field. 3+ years experience setting up and operating automated woodworking equipment and machinery preferred. Experience working in production woodworking environment desired.

OTHER COMPETENCIES/SKILLS REQUIRED

· Parts Cutters are expected to work as cabinetmakers or assistants to cabinetmakers when needed or when parts cutting operations are complete or not required. Parts cutters, therefore, will have or will gain proficiency in basic cabinetmaking or woodworking operations in addition to the essential duties and responsibilities described above.

· Follows established safety procedures and performs duties in a safe, conscientious manner.

· Able to consistently meet productivity, attendance and quality standards.

· Deadline oriented – able to work effectively under narrow time limitations to produce accurate results.

· Analyzes situations accurately and is able to solve routine problems in accordance with approved procedures and precedents.

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and work schedules.

· Demonstrates proficiency in operating basic hand tools including tape measures, pneumatic staplers, sanders, drills and other woodworking tools.

· Demonstrates proficiency in operating basic stationary machinery common to woodworking operations including various saws and other woodworking machinery.

· Possesses basic mathematical skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically able to stand the majority of the workday. Employee is also regularly required to stand, walk and demonstrate significant levels of manual dexterity required to operate machinery and tools. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, twist and turn or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or manipulate materials or cabinets weighing approximately 120 pounds, utilizing appropriate equipment provided whenever possible.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and dust or airborne particles, which requires safety glasses to be worn at all times while on the shop floor. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. Employee may be required to wear a respirator when assisting in the Finishing room. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and hearing protection is required.

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour
