JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. BS or AS in Engineering, Drafting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of related experience required.
  • Military Experience is a plus.
  • Understanding or working knowledge of ISO 9001, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma desired, but not required. Training may be provided.
  • Forklift certification desired, but not required.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and the ability to effectively read blueprints.
  • Knowledge in the operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines is required. Familiarity with Hexagon and Zeiss CMM’s is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PC-DMIS, Calypso, and Polyworks software is preferred.
  • Knowledge in the operation of a FARO arm is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately inspect high precision machined components.
  • Ability to utilize CAD software is preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools for manual verification of dimensions.
  • Ability to operate an optical comparator is preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and other fabrication methods is desired, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the CMM Operator/Programmer is to inspect complex machined and formed parts to ensure they meet specification.

  • Set up and operate a Zeiss or Hexagon CMM in an accurate and safe fashion.
  • Create programs for Zeiss and Hexagon CMM’s as needed.
  • Fully inspect parts and ensure that they conform to all specifications given on the blueprint and purchase order.
  • Review engineering drawings, sketches, graphic illustrations, or verbal/written correspondence to compute angular and linear dimensions.
  • Create detailed inspection reports for all parts.
  • Determine the proper probing instruments to be used for a particular job.
  • Order probing instruments and other inspection tools as needed.
  • Design CMM fixtures as needed for a particular job.
  • Perform preventative maintenances on the machinery as required.
  • Identify and report malfunctioning equipment to the machine shop team leads
  • Deburr parts as necessary.
  • Assemble components and check for proper fit, alignment, and functionality.
  • Confer with engineers for potential discrepancies in drawings or part design.
  • May provide guidance or training to equal or less developed operators.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with all established procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by their supervisor.

Physical Requirements

  • BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time. There are also periods of time when the employee will be sitting.
  • BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals, and the ability to bend, reach, and crouch.
  • STRENGTH: Must have the ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance)

Working Conditions

  • This position will be working primarily indoors in a production environment. The employee will encounter a variety of temperatures, lighting conditions, and air quality within the plant.
  • The noise level in the work environment is at acceptable level. Hearing protection may be required.

Pay: $22.07 - $31.42 per hour
