Job Description Summary
The Dean of the LaFetra College of Education at the University of La Verne invites applications for a 10-month open rank, non tenure-track (clinical), faculty position in Leadership. The proposed start date is July 1, 2023. The Dean of the LaFetra College of Education seeks an individual to lead a growing teacher-scholar enterprise in partnership with a faculty committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship/creative activity and service.

Specific Duties
The successful candidate will: (a) Launch the Center for Educational Leadership and serve as Director of the center. (b) Have a history of effective leadership and/or administration experience in a culture of shared governance. Skill in strategic planning and an ability to work collaboratively with faculty, school district administrators and community leaders to develop customized programs to support learners with special needs. © Teach doctoral and/or graduate courses during the calendar year in face-to-face, online, and/or blended formats in leadership and related fields. (d. Support strategic initiatives across the college and campus; and (e) Provide leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must have an earned doctorate in educational leadership, organizational leadership, or a closely related field.
  • Previous or comparable experience in program coordination/leadership is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent professional experience in K-12 school districts and/or organizational leadership at the superintendent or central office level is highly desirable.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with
    • (a) demonstrated knowledge of current theoretical and empirical works undergirding school system leadership and organizational improvement
    • (b) demonstrated ability to bridge theory and practice for leadership students enrolled in a doctoral or graduate program, direct student applied research projects, and create and sustain positive change in school districts and related organizations
    • © proven capacity to manage an entrepreneurial environment by building fee-for-service programs
    • (d) Demonstrated success or the potential for success in seeking external funding and contracts
    • (e) proven ability to represent the university in leading national conversations about leadership in education at conferences and in the media.
