Department of Education at Waldorf University invites applications for the position of a
Clinical Placement Coordinator & Student Teaching Supervisor. This position reports to the Department Chair and coordinates activity with Education faculty and staff. This is considered a full-time and benefit eligible position at approximately 30hrs/week during the academic year and as needed during semester breaks and throughout summer to meet needs of the position. Possible additional instructional opportunities may be available dependent on university needs and candidate qualifications.

The
Clinical Placement Coordinator & Student Teaching Supervisor will build partnerships with schools and school districts to arrange clinical and student teaching placements to meet Iowa Department of Education licensure requirements. Will provide support to the Education Department and Education majors and will assist the administrative assistant with providing data for departmental, state, and federal reporting requirements. Will need to be familiar with the requirements of Waldorf's Teacher Education Program and the licensure requirements of the Iowa Department of Education.
Essential Functions: Clinical placement administration and duties include but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Work with PK-12 schools to develop and maintain relationships that will increase high quality placement opportunities, ensure diverse placements, and foster vibrant partnerships.
- Provide oversight of all components of Clinical placements for candidates in Waldorf’s Teacher Education Program, including early Clinical experience locations that are linked to coursework and lengthier student teaching placements.
- Place undergraduate clinical students and communicate expectations for participating students to administrators and teachers, as well as follow up with cooperating teachers on students and concerns throughout the semester.
- Place, supervise and evaluate student teachers.
- Initiate, track, review, and monitor status of student teacher placements and all associated licensure requirements, including fingerprinting, request letters, forms, and notification letters.
- Schedule and coordinate orientation meetings for student teachers, their cooperating teachers, and student teaching supervisors regarding policies and requirements.
- Mentor workshops for cooperating teachers of student teachers
- Evaluate cooperating teachers and sites
- Teach Senior Capstone course and assess portfolios.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education related field.
- Active or the ability to obtain an Iowa Educator’s License. Evaluator license preferred.
- Elementary teaching and/or K-12 administrative experience required.
