Job Title: Clinical Integration Coordinator

Location: Marina, CA

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for treating and administering exercise and educational programs and services that encourage patients to progress from an injured or debilitated disease state to independent exercise and achieve the highest quality of life possible for their condition by performing the following duties:

  • Performs all the duties of the personal trainer job description plus those listed herein.
  • Provides one to one or one to multiple client training sessions within the wellness center.
  • Maintains an average number of personal training sessions conducted each week that is stipulated for the position at the assigned wellness center by the Fitness Director and Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager. Failure to achieve the assigned quota will result in the individual being assigned into a lower job category or terminated.
  • Ensures that members are performing their exercise routines in a safe and effective manner.
  • Evaluates the needs of patients, the hospital, physicians and the community for medically based fitness to develop programs that meet those needs.
  • Develops a strategic plan and implements a process that establishes a continuum of care from ambulatory medical services to membership or programmatic participation in the wellness center.
  • Creates clinical programs and services that contribute to the Club’s overall bottom line.
  • Trains and supervises exercise staff in the clinical integration process and the safe exercise techniques for patients and members with specific medical conditions and limitations.
  • Provides intake evaluations and runs specific clinical integration sessions for patients and members.
  • Assists the Fitness Director with programs and services that attract and retain members.
  • Acts as a liaison between the medical professionals (Physicians, Nurses and Therapists) and the Club’s fitness professionals.
  • Delivers presentations and conducts ongoing follow-up with medical staff and other medical professionals to development a referral base for the Club’s clinical programs.
  • Meets regularly with Fitness Director and prepares weekly and monthly action plans according to goals and objectives.
  • Performs baseline health assessments and exercise testing. Must also be proficient in interpreting and explaining results of testing.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates individualized exercise programs for a diversified member population.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited school in an exercise physiology, physical education, fitness/medical or health related field, Master’s degree strongly preferred; two (2) years’ experience in the fitness industry, including the development and monitoring of exercise and wellness programs in a medical environment; Must have one of the following certifications: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Must be certified in infant, child, and adult CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) before assuming the position; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
