GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Clerk VI will provide administrative support to Allied Health Certificate programs: [Medical Assisting, Certified Nurse Aide, Diagnostic Technician (EKG/Phlebotomy), EMS/Paramedic] and the Area Health Education Center (AHEC). This position provides direct customer service and support for the students, faculty, and staff as well as the health care provider community members, especially those who provide clinical experiences. The ideal candidate will have the ability to pay close attention to details, proficiency working with technology, and excellent communication and customer service skills. The ability to be self-directed is required as is the ability to maintain confidentiality in day-to-day office operations.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide clerical office support for the Allied Health Certificate programs/AHEC Center.
- Assist with implementation of program requirements.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and health care providers.
- Maintain records as required by accreditor.
- Record and distribute meeting notices and meeting minutes.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. (A) Five years full-time, or equivalent part-time, office experience of which (B) at least two years must be in a supervisory or administrative capacity, at an educational institution or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the following substitutions:
- I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience*
- II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required (A) experience*
- III. A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience*
- IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience*
- Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated based on the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
2. Strong communication and organization skills with attentiveness to detail.
3. Experience in organizing records for review.
4. Excellent customer service skills.
5. Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and MS Outlook).
6. Willing to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings.
7. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work independently, problem solve, and take initiative appropriately.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate degree or coursework at a community college.
2. Experience with Jenzabar.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $959.58/week, 37.5 hours/week; Grade 16, Step I. AFSCME Unit Position that includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program. Candidates may qualify for placement above entry-level salary if currently employed in the state system.
