Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Civil Engineer/Environmental Engineer with 5 or more years’ experience to support our Mid-Atlantic region. The candidate in this role will support environmental permitting projects for several energy development clients in the region, including electrical transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy projects. Tasks may include site layouts, grading, hydraulic modeling, utility design, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control design. You will have the ability to think in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner to deliver the very best solutions to our clients. While the location of this position is flexible, and remote work opportunities are available, the ideal candidate would be located near one of the following cities: Richmond, Virginia or Virginia Beach, Virginia.

This position will require both field and office work, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic schedule. Field work would include environmental inspections, and could include up to 25% travel.

Role accountabilities:

  • Civil/Environmental engineering design including land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design
  • Developing permit/construction-level drawings and details , preparing technical specifications , r eport writing for civil and environmental permitting and c onstruction cost evaluation/estimating
  • Office-based support of active construction projects (e.g., submittal reviews, field change documentation, site layout information)
  • Perform erosion and sediment control and stormwater management inspections during construction

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 5 years or more of experience in civil/environmental engineering projects.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam Certification for Plan Review in Stormwater Management and/or Erosion and Sediment Control in Virginia
  • Understanding of Annual Standards and Specifications , p roficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and e xperience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS)
  • Understanding of land development, erosion & sediment control, and stormwater permitting

Preferred Qualification

  • 8-10 years or more of experience in civil/environmental engineering projects.
  • PE License in Virginia
  • Certification for Inspection in Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control in Virginia
