Child Support Agent II Job at Cumberland County, NC
- Provide mandated child support services which include location of noncustodial parents, administrative and judicial establishment of paternity and support orders
- Work involves gathering evidence, drafting legal orders, computation of the appropriate child support amount using NC Child Support Guidelines
- Determining proper course of action and assisting the staff attorney with preparation for court as well as presenting cases with the staff attorney in the courtroom
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, human resources, paralegal, accounting, or other closely related degree and 6 months of experience in areas of child support, social services eligibility, investigations, legal, or finance that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; or graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in business administration, human resources, paralegal, accounting, or other closely related degree and 2 ½ years of experience in areas of child support, social services eligibility, investigations, legal, or finance that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; or graduation from high school and 4 1/2 years of experience in areas of child support, social services eligibility, investigations, legal, or finance that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and Automated Case Tracking System (ACTS), related legal procedures, judicial operations, and office management practices and procedures.
- Skill in interviewing, investigating, and analyzing case variables.
- Ability to organize and summarize case information.
- Ability to represent child support program in oral and written form.
- Ability to analyze and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.
