The Gateway Family YMCA Child Development Center is looking for Child Care Assistants to encourage the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of the children in our facilities. You will provide care and supervision while also supporting the development of the whole child.

Responsibilities

  • Implement developmentally appropriate practices according to current program curriculum. Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material
  • Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises
  • Provide basic care and caregiving activities
  • Use a wide range of developmentally appropriate practices to promote each child's optimal development and learning through a strengths-based, play-based approach to joyful, engaged learning
  • Assessment of children’s performance to make sure they are on the right learning track
  • Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children
  • Observe children’s interactions and promote the spirit of concord
  • Ability to assess the needs of the individual child and determine areas of strength and where support is needed
  • Collaborate with other colleagues to work successfully in a classroom team
  • Adhere with teaching standards and State Licensing regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of the children

Skills

  • Proven experience as a child care / daycare staff
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods
  • Methodical and creative
  • Patience, flexibility and love for children
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Certificate in first aid and CPR
  • CDA or other degree in early childhood education

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff must wear masks. CDC guidelines for cleaning and sanitation are followed. Daily health screenings are conducted for all staff and participants.
Vaccine or weekly testing required as per licensing guidelines.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
