The MJCCA’s Zaban Park campus sits on 53 acres and is located in Dunwoody, GA. At other locations, the MJCCA operates the Sunshine Preschool at Temple Kol Emeth, the Schiff School at Temple Emanu-El, and Camp Barney Medintz, a residential summer camp in Cleveland, Georgia. The MJCCA employs 400 year-round staff members, over 600 seasonal employees, and partners with approximately 200 organizations and local businesses to better deliver programs and services to the community.
Job Summary
Having just announced the launch of a $36 million capital campaign with over $33 million raised to date, the MJCCA is looking to expand its programs and offerings and add a second Chief Program Officer to the Senior Management Team.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Program Officer (CPO) is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of programs and services. The CPO will supervise high level Program Directors and be responsible for developing and implementing new programs. This person will review, on an ongoing basis, programs being offered and develop new programs as needs and opportunities emerge. The CPO will partner with their peers on the Senior Management Team to better deliver services – the Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Impact Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Chief Program Officer– while also being responsible for all program planning, organizing, operating, and staffing. This person is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the programmatic aspects of the annual budget in conjunction with senior management and the CEO.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide effective and inspiring leadership, as well as stewardship, of the MJCCA by being actively involved in all programs and services. Lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program areas. Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on program quality and operations.
- Direct management of high-level department directors; provide growth opportunities and ongoing year-round staff development.
- Develop innovative program initiatives and identify areas for programmatic growth both at Zaban Park campus and other locations around metro-Atlanta; seek out community partnerships to further foster mission of the MJCCA.
- Promote agency culture by fostering a workplace that values input from all levels of the organization, promotes collaboration, and encourages differing points of view; manage agency customer service efforts and responsible for all customer feedback.
- Effectively solicit and secure gifts in coordination with development department. Enthusiastically steward donors and prospective donors year-round.
- Prepare and submit annual departmental budgets for review and approval, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.
- Play a vital role with Board and Senior Management Team to ensure short term goals are met and create long range strategy and fiscal management of the agency.
- Continuously research informal Jewish education, recreation, fitness, camping, arts and culture and preschool, as well as Atlanta demographic patterns, and stay abreast of industry trends.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate leadership skills in effective management strategies, organization, creativity, and flexibility.
- Self-starter with ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills necessary to work with all constituencies including MJCCA staff at all levels, members, lay leadership, donors, and community leaders.
- Ability to articulate the influences of Jewish tradition and values on our programs, operational decisions, and mission-based work.
- Sensitive to cultural differences; demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style, create a positive and harmonious workplace, effectively manage time, and understand individual leadership styles and its influence on the well-being of the staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with other staff members, MJCCA members, and community members.
- Ability to resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity as well as the ability to get along with a variety of people; respond effectively to constructive criticism and give constructive feedback to others and ensure that an environment which fosters collaboration is developed and maintained.
- Passionate about the MJCCA’s mission with the ability to promote and communicate the mission and values to external and internal stakeholders.
- Customer-service oriented with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Arts or Science required; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in program administration and delivery in positions of increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer software: including MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience supervising and developing staff and lay leadership.
- Experience and proficiency with fiscal management of budgets.
