Chief People Officer
Do you thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment? Are you excited by the opportunity to help significantly scale a nonprofit organization with a $28 million budget? Do you have the skills to lead a team of HR professionals to hire, onboard and support talent in a fast-growing, 300-employee organization? Are you a strategic thinker who can set a vision for the HR team and an action-oriented “do-er” who can execute? Do you have a “not if, but how” mentality? Are you energized by passionate, hard-working, and fun-loving teammates? And most importantly, are you committed to making the lives of kids in our community better? If so, the Chief People Officer position at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula could be the perfect fit for you!
About Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula
At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP), our business is changing lives. We are a vibrant, entrepreneurial nonprofit organization in the heart of Silicon Valley, committed to empowering the youth in our community with equitable access to opportunities that will help them thrive in school and beyond.
Our vision is that all kids grow up to lead fulfilling lives fueled by their passions, talents and a love of learning. We believe that a child’s outcomes in life should be determined by hard work, and strong character, rather than arbitrary circumstances like the zip code into which their born, the amount of money their parents have, their immigration status, or other circumstances out of their control.
At BGCP, we partner with school districts to level the playing field. We provide free, high-quality academic support, mental health services, extracurricular enrichments, college and career counseling in after school, summer and weekend programs.
We have grown tremendously over the past year to meet the unprecedented student need in the wake of the pandemic. We’re now the largest expanded learning time provider in San Mateo County, with programs in low-income neighborhoods from East Palo Alto to Daly City. We actively serve 4,200 K-16 students across 24 sites (20 school sites, 4 clubhouses) with a budget of $28 million and a growing 315 staff.
We have ambitious aspirations for continued growth beyond this year’s commitment, with high demand from our school partners in northern San Mateo County for additional services. The unmet need is great, and BGCP is best positioned to meet it.
The biggest challenge we face is hiring, training, and retaining the qualified staff necessary to meet demand. We need the right People leadership vision and systems to enable this.
While BGCP is affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we are an independent 501(c)(3) organization with our own Board of Directors and responsible for our own programs and funding.
