Chief Mental Health Counselor CAF Job at State of South Carolina
Under limited supervision, coordinates and supervises staff within the school-based services program. Employee assists CAF Director in planning and implementing clinical services in the school-based services program and will carry out the directives of the CAF Director. Employee will provide advanced psychotherapeutic services which include assessment, crisis intervention, counseling services, and case management to an assigned caseload. Services will be provided in a clinic-based setting.
Additionally, employee will perform duties with Health and Safety and Disaster Preparedness. This position is located at the Orangeburg Area Department of Mental Health, 2319 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center / OAMHC is an approved site of the National
Health Service Corps, (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000 to
employees of NHSC-approved sites. You must be a US citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired, and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.
Who We Are
Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center is part of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center/OAMHC provides mental health services to individuals in Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg and Holly Hill Counties.
1.Provides an array of clinical services to promote recovery, stabilization, and independence based on the client’s needs and plan of care.
2. Collects, organizes, and records data and information in each client's medical records according to quality assurance standards, CARF guidelines, and corporate compliance standards
3. Supervises staff assigned to School-based Services Program, primarily in Orangeburg County Consolidated School District
4. Coordinates school-based services program in conjunction with the CAF Director. Works with the supervisory team in assisting the CAF Director in implementing clinical services and day-to-day functioning of the CAF Unit. Coordinates data collection, analysis, and evaluation of the employees supervised, to include but not limited to annual EPMS and monthly chart audits. Participates in center-wide committees as assigned and/or determined by CAF Director.
5. Conducts annual job performance and planning evaluations for designated clinical staff utilizing the Employment Performance Management System. Administers all relevant personnel policies related to timekeeping and attendance for employees supervised.
6. Participates in treatment team meetings with CAF staff to formulate and develop individual services plans for each client/family.
7. Complies with all legal responsibilities while performing these job duties.
8. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum State T&E: A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program
DMH T&E: A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and three (3) yrs experience in a clinical counseling program.
