Our group is composed of 29 anesthesiologists and five CRNAs. We cover 13 operating rooms, four endoscopy suites, IR, Cath Lab, and L&D. We work together in a care team model.

Responsibilities
- Chairman shall establish Department procedures, action plans and goals to address Centers of Excellence initiatives, post-operative pain management improvement, preoperative screening and assessment process improvement, patient throughput process improvement, SCIP guideline adherence improvement, PQRS Requirements and additional quality improvement efforts
- Attend Peer Review Committee meetings at the institution as necessary
- Participate in the quality management infrastructure and process of the institution.
- Administer a monthly anesthesia case review process and present the findings to the Department of Anesthesia on a monthly basis
- Meet with the Nursing Chairman of the OR and with the Chairman of the Department of Surgery on a regular basis, whether separately or together, to discuss anesthesia operations as well as the operations of the hospital ORs. For the purpose of this provision, “regular basis” shall mean no less than monthly.
- Designate a qualified Group CRNA who will temporarily assume the Chief’s duties and responsibilities due to Chief’s temporary absences of short duration, such as vacation, illness, or attendance at professional meetings
- Manage or delegate the management of a staff coverage schedule
- Provide bi-annual (data driven when available) reviews of each Clinical Staff
- Create and FPPE process for on-boarding new staff and an FPPE process when intervention is necessary based on a negative staff review.
- Assure the maintenance of accurate, complete and timely patient and other records regarding the service to insure the delivery of quality patient care and provide the information required for NAPA and the hospital to obtain payment for its services
- Work with nursing management to improve efficiency and decrease costs in the operating room
Administrative Relationship with NMSC
- Participate in regularly scheduled monthly conference calls with Client Services Executive & RD. Escalate significant issues as necessary between scheduled calls.
- Work directly with each NMSC department (escalate issues or concerns as needed):
- HR - Employee Relations, Benefits, Compensation, etc.
- Recruitment- following the appropriate protocol
- Finance/Accounting- Payroll, Budget & Expense Management
- Compliance – Execute the NAPA compliance plan which includes the use of NAPA University
- Healthcare Analysis – Become familiar with the NAPA BI tool and utilize site dedicated Analyst to generate custom reports
- Credentialing – Maintain an appropriate credentialing process for site staff based in institutional requirements
- Revenue Cycle – create a specific reconciliation process for managing anesthesia records and bills
- Business Development – work with new business staff to expand services in the community
- Keep up to date with ongoing Chief trainings (Chiefs Meeting twice a year)
- NAPA Service Experience –direct and support the NSE Site Champion
- Schedule Periodic meetings with anesthesia staff
NAPA Relationship with the Hospital
- Adhere to and act in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Hospital
- Under the direction of the CEO or designee of the hospital be responsible for abiding by the hospital administrative regulations, policies and procedures
- Act as an ambassador on behalf of the hospital in the community
- Participate in committees as required by the Medical Staff Bylaws and as reasonably requested by the hospital.
- Participates in the hospital public relations program, community education and outreach programs, and such other activities as reasonably requested by the Hospital Administrator
- Participate as requested in hospital plans and programs to assess and improve the quality and efficiency of the service, including but not limited to, quality assessment and improvement, utilization review, risk management, and infection control
- Recommend to the hospital the ordering of equipment, supplies and medications, participate in development of the hospital operational and capital budget, and manage the physical space and other resources of the Department
- Assist hospital in obtaining and maintaining accreditation and all licenses, permits and other authorizations, plus achieving all accreditation standards which are dependent upon, or applicable to, the manner in which the service is conducted
Requirements
- Licensure as a CRNA in the state of New York
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the financial, managerial and marketing aspects of the Service
- Current compliance with regulatory/industry requirements including continuing medical education
- Ability to speak effectively on administration and clinical matters as they relate to the clinical area
- Clinically astute in the delivery of anesthesia to surgical patients
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented
- Demonstrated leadership experience and training
