The primary role and responsibility of the Operations Director: Kitchen is to bring full leadership, management, and support to the following business success factors: People, Quality & Customer Experience, Sales & Brand Growth, and Financial Return.
PEOPLE
- Fully responsible for leading the Back of House and communicating the restaurant Vision and providing focus to the restaurant management team.
- Engage and develop others - coach, provide feedback, hold accountable, assess talent, and inspire the team to be their best.
- Serve and support HR and Training directors to achieve goals in their respective areas
- Work with other leaders to ensure Chick-fil-A culture is upheld and that the team feels appreciated and recognized
- Ensure the team is receiving consistent development opportunities and performance feedback
- Identify and communicate training gaps and help implement corrective plans
- Ensure hiring needs and growth positions are communicated to HR Director
- Identify and develop talent, keeping a full bench for each role
QUALITY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
- Create a culture of food safety
- Ensure food safety is a priority through proper hand-washing, tracking time and temperature, and LEAN and product rotation procedures
- Ensure 100% Safe Daily Criticals participation
- Ensure the restaurant management team has a clear understanding of food safety protocol and guide behaviors that support food safety initiatives
- Create and manage operational systems that increase customer throughput and situate the business for sales growth
- Create and manage operational systems that align with Winning Hearts Every Day restaurant operating strategy centered on customer care:
- Ensure Great Food goals are being achieved through CEM
- Taste of Food, Temperature of food, Portion size, Food Safety Performance Level
- Ensure Fast and Accurate Service goals are being achieved through CEM
- Fast Service, Ease of placing order, Order accuracy
- Ensure Genuine Hospitality goals are being achieved through CEM
- Attentive and courteous employees, Problem resolution, Cleanliness
SALES & BRAND GROWTH
- Support Marketing Director to ensure marketing initiatives to build sales and brand are executed well (e.g. Mobile Mondays, etc.)
- Ensure operations can support in-restaurant sales-building strategy and result in annual sales growth goals
- Work with Marketing Director to ensure in-restaurant events and promotions align with operational capacity (e.g. appropriate staffing, etc.)
- Clearly communicate with Marketing Director any operational issues with marketing strategies
FINANCIAL RETURN
- Responsible for inventory management
- Lead and/or delegate QCD truck orders and deliveries
- Quality Incidents and Credits
- Participate in End of Month processing needs
- Ensure cash management policies are being upheld and systems meet Chick-fil-A standards
- Have a clear understanding of supplier payments and the daily report process
- Create and/or oversee weekly schedule for respective area of the business
- Track Actual vs Scheduled Hours
- Food Cost: Minimize positive food cost gap to under +/- .1%
- Labor Cost: Maximize productivity and achieve Top 20% Labor goal
- Ensure restaurant layout supports reducing unnecessary labor (e.g. reduce the number of footsteps to retrieve LEAN cold prep items for FOH, etc.)
OPERATIONS/ADMINISTRATION
- Work a total of 45 hours per week
- Serve in an operational position a minimum of 35 hours per week
- Ensure safety and security protocols are understood and followed by restaurant managers (e.g. opening/closing procedures, cash management, team safety, etc.)
- Manage the process of ordering, receiving, and storing products as related to area of the business
- Develop restaurant management team to operate the restaurant efficiently and according to Chick-fil-A procedures from 6:30AM-10:00 PM
- Be available to train new team members as needed
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Self-starter, results-oriented
- Effective communicator who can lead, manage, and develop others
- Ability to influence through relationship and example
- Ability to multi-task with timeliness and accuracy
- Exemplary leader of the Chick-fil-A Brand
- Ability to work 45-55 hours/week
- Minimum 2 years of restaurant leadership experience
- ServSafe Certification preferred
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a source of reliable transportation
- Mobility required during shifts
- Must not have tattoos on face or neck
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Minimum 2 years restaurant leadership experience
