Company Description:
American Water Chemicals (AWC) is a manufacturer of water treatment chemicals. We are currently seeking full time Chemical Blenders for our Plant City location.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Blend Chemicals according to blending instructions
- Ensure the correct ingredients go into each batch and that the pumping and pouring of the mix are safe, accurate, and precise.
- Chemical Blender will use mixers, scales, and meters on pumps to help ensure that the proper quantity of each batch goes into the right container.
- Ensure that all mixes are correct according to batch sheets.
- Record all steps of the blending process.
- This position is responsible for the setup and cleanup of all raw materials before and after mixing a batch.
- Collect samples to provide to the Quality Control department.
- Fill chemicals into containers (pails, drums or totes) or chemical tankers.
- Ensure correct products are shipped by following shipping instructions.
- Prepare orders to ship to customers – pick, palletize, strap, shrink wrap and label for shipping.
- Fill out Bill of Lading for chemicals, including hazardous materials.
- Load and unload shipments using forklift or pallet jack, or manually as needed.
- Inspect product being received for damage.
- Document all in and outbound deliveries to make sure they match with paperwork.
- Work with Sales department on shipping and receiving related issues.
- Perform physical inventory.
- Perform stock rotation of product.
- Operate forklift in accordance with safety regulations.
- Maintain and clean all shipping and receiving equipment.
- Maintain and clean Shipping and loading docks.
- Keep warehouse organized and clean.
- Provide input to improve current department procedures.
- Provide support to other areas of production as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be Hazmat certified.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 2 year work experience.
- Must be proficient with a Forklift and be certified for safely operating a forklift.
- Ability to meet physical requirements including: standing, sitting and walking throughout the day; repeated twisting at the torso while lifting, pushing and pulling inventory.
- Physically capable of carrying heavy weight. Regular lifting of 50 - 100 lbs.
- Able to manipulate 55 gallon drums of chemical weighing up to 750 lbs.
- Can read, write, communicate, and comprehend the English language sufficiently to perform various tasks of the job.
- Must be able to read and understand chemical Safety Data Sheets.
- Possess good judgement necessary to perform the functions of the job including; operating a forklift in a safe and lawful manner; handling customers’ products safely and efficiently, and communicating tactfully and diplomatically.

- Must provide a reference list of previous employers who can verify work ethic
