Certified Recovery Peer Support Specialists (PT)
The Certified Recovery Peer Support Specialist will facilitate the development of recovery skills of individuals with substance use issues. In collaboration with the CCCF staff and the individual in recovery, their purpose during the twelve-month contract is to provide opportunities for individuals to direct their own recovery plan, build self worth and wellness, and build a meaningful life/role in the community. The CRPSS teaches and supports the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate an individual’s recovery. They promote the knowledge of and use of available service options and the utilization of community resources. The CRPSS will promote and contribute to the development of a culture of recovery and peer support within the CCCF program and the agency as a whole by being a role model, willingly sharing personal experiences with individuals in recovery, their families and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible. Will meet with individuals and appropriately engages them to identify their interests, goals and aspirations; provides support to individuals towards achieving their life goals.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, and Certified Recovery Specialist Certification are required which must be maintained, and a past history of substance use experience. A total of 12 months full or part time, paid or volunteer work experience within the last 3 years required; one year of college, or other educational experience within the last three years, can be substituted for the work experience. The selected candidate must be able to work within a correctional facility. Must have demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing. Must have the ability to establish positive relationships with peers enrolled in service, also the ability to teach daily living skills. Must be able to travel 60% of the time. Good knowledge of Camden’s public transit system and a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record is a plus. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and over-all computer skills). Completion of the Investigation Application for the Camden County Department of Corrections is required.
All candidates must have a certificate of completion in the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse - Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania” on-line training requirements, complete the Investigation Application for the Camden County Department of Corrections, successfully complete and pass all background checks and The selected candidate must be able to work within a correctional facility.
