Overview:
The Certified Dealer Instructor works with sales representative on the delivery of new machines and customer satisfaction, demonstrating new machines to owners, training operators, and confirming new machine preparation prior to delivery. Position completes new machine delivery reports for Caterpillar as well as following-up on any delivery issues. Position facilltates machine operator training, safety and operating technique seminars.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do:

  • Attend and complete all necessary training to safely operate and demonstrate company products.
  • Assist sales representatives in conducting study in efficiency and productivity when required. Prepare for competitive demonstrations competing product
  • Assist sales representatives in the selection of proper equipment for customer requirements. Confirm all information is present or ordered for each customer. Prepare and complete needed paperwork for machine records.
  • Schedule, prepare & conduct Operating Technique Seminars by providing in depth information to Owners and Operators on machine specifics, operating best practices, application techniques, grading techniques, machine safety, etc. (By use of machine or machine simulator)
  • Provide new product delivery orientation and/or training at the customer’s site. When possible, Pre-check equipment prior to demonstration for operation, appearance and features to highlight.
  • Stay current with new products, features and benefits on products and demonstrate the value to customers. Communicate the benefit of using Caterpillar products versus competitive offerings.
  • Complete Product Delivery Service Record; provide a post demonstration report detailing strengths and weaknesses of product to management. Schedule in cooperation with sales representatives and sales management operator training classes and events as required. Provide and maintain reports as required.
  • Stay on top of changes in equipment, product updates, new product introduction and technology changes as they pertain to equipment training and demonstration.
  • Candidate will be required to progress to and maintain a CDI (Certified Demo Instructor) Level with a minimum of three machine certifications.
  • Keep updated on CAT product changes through schooling (C.E.T.).
  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Attend all safety meetings, OSHA and MSHA training as necessary. Notify supervisor of any accidents or safety hazards. Utilize PPE as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of Heavy Equipment Operator experience is preferred
  • Certified Caterpillar Machine Operator
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to know CAT machine specifications, operation details and preventative maintenance, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to discuss components, capabilities and product features with large groups of people including upper managers and customers.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Caterpillar product line, application and various markets to include price, quality and turnaround principles.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills with the ability to make meaningful connections with a diverse customer and internal company base.
  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to service excellence.
  • Represent Blanchard Machinery with the ability to professionally work with customers, vendors, peers and co-workers as well as demonstrate the ability to develop strong, long term relationships.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills and listening skills.
  • A team player capable of harmonious collaboration as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Organizational and time management skills required. Must have the ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast paced industry and deadlines.

Working Conditions
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Position requires employee to work on-site at designated location as well as travel to customer sites.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
