Certified Addiction Counselor

Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI) is an integrated behavioral healthcare organization offering a full continuum of care, including variety of programs throughout Arizona, Oklahoma and District of Columbia. The District of Columbia Stabilization and Sobering Center (“DCSSC”), operated by Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI), will offer immediate, 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, no cost, low barrier access to Crisis SUD services for individuals 18 years of age and older, regardless of gender, insurance, and citizenship status. The DCSSC will provide individuals experiencing an SUD crisis with person-centered and a recovery-oriented alternative to unnecessary encounters at emergency departments or interactions with law enforcement. The DCSSC will ensure those individuals seeking or referred for services will receive an integrated and comprehensive care to address their specific needs in a supportive clinical and recovery-oriented environment. CBI will hire pursuant to the DC EEO provisions.

Job Summary
The Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) I or lI will provide counseling services to patients with substance abuse addiction problems within the scope of their certification. The CAC is part of the interdisciplinary treatment team at the D.C Stabilization and Sobering Center that provides 24/7 care to those who are experiencing psychological, behavioral, emotional, medical, social and/or familial challenges. The CAC will assess and analyze emotional conditions, explore possible solutions, and work within a treatment plan for mental and emotional adjustment or development. Will be responsible for teaching clients the skills and mechanics to cope with addiction and providing treatment to people with mental, emotional or substance use disorders. The CAC will be responsible for completing duties consistent with their respective licensure bodies and agency certifications.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Must possess an Associate degree, from an accredited school in a health or human services field, including but not limited to a degree in nursing, aging studies, criminal justice, health education, or mental health. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience providing substance use services in a healthcare setting.
  • Must have lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use.
  • Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates highly preferred.
  • Valid identification required.
  • Must possess a valid CAC I or CAC II certification from the D. C. Department of Health or from another, endorsed U.S. Jurisdiction.
