At the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC), our mission is to diminish poverty and enable self-sufficiency for all Howard County individuals, families, and children in need. CAC is looking for an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center Manager. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the center. The ideal candidate for this position will need to support their center's staff with structured and personalized training on data evaluation, functioning as the centers instructional leader. Additionally, they will partner with CAC's Education Coordinator, Behavior Mental Health Specialist, and Special Education Specialist to implement and monitor the ECE curriculum and assessment screening tools to fidelity and screenings tools. Center managers must ensure that their center remains in compliance with MSDE and Head Start guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards, COMAR licensing regulations, and Maryland Early Learning Standards
- Monitors students development data and conducts trainings and center-level meetings to ensure all students are developing based accepted developmental
- Builds a strong relationship with enrolled families through outreach events and daily interactions
- Supervises center staff
- Conducts classroom observations, staff evaluations, and scheduling
- Monitors building compliance and coordinates with internal team members to resolve any issues
- Oversees health and safety of staff and children based on CAC and CDC policies and regulations
- Creates a positive relationship with the local community and supporting school district, representing CAC in a positive manner
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Must have MSDE credentialing of at least a level 2
- 3+ years of experience in an educational program with 3- to 5-year-old children
- Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle during work hours
- Able to read, write, comprehend and speak English
- Able to use Office Suite programs and use academic platforms on an as-needed basis
- Able to maintain a safe environment for up to 22 people. This includes, but is not limited to, the physical ability to evacuate students and clients during disaster drills and emergency situations.
- Able to move quickly in order to respond to children who are very active and may need redirection in order to ensure their safety and/or the safety of others in the environment
