Responsible to identify, develop and implement sourcing programs for MRO commodities and materials that deliver measurable value to the Company and Clients. Programs include sourcing plans for commodities on a company wide basis and sourcing plans for both existing and new client sites. Prioritization of programs is driven from analysis of purchasing data, market conditions and analysis, communication from Site Buying Teams, and from business requirements.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of the role is to create and lead RS Group’s global People Services team and is responsible for shaping, influencing and implementing a new global service delivery model for the People function. The role will focus on process and product efficiencies, service delivery, data quality and analytics to support a dynamic, highly matrixed organization. The role will be responsible for the effectively delivery of a global team delivering query resolution, transactional support, systems administration, content management, automation and continuous improvement. The role holder will need to continually enhance processes (through automation, re-engineering, and continuous improvement) to drive efficiency and provide a superior service experience ensuring service level agreements are delivered and KPI’s are measured.
- Leads development of robust category strategies in assigned categories following formal process – data collection, analytics, strategy creation, implementation, and plan life cycle management. Prioritization of activities driven by spend analytics, opportunity assessment, and gap management. Engages company stakeholders and customers to ensure plan alignment.
- Supports other Category Managers in various category management activities as needed.
- Facilitates Supplier Relationship Management programs.
- Supports tracking of performance against category strategies – spend levels, savings against plan expectations, supplier coverage, systemic supplier performance against agreed KPIs
- Supports site buying activities through the development and implementation of sourcing agreements and site sourcing plans that provides measurable targets aligned to business and site requirements. In establishing agreements, the Category Manager is responsible to manage the bid and award processes including identification of and negotiation with suppliers; evaluate market trends and economics; and effectively communicate agreements with internal and external customers.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining a capable, value driven supply base for required categories. Must control costs of materials through use of negotiations and agreements, market tests, bulk purchasing and/or forecasting, program compliance management, data analysis, etc.
- Maintain the accuracy of the e-Catalog for assigned categories by analyzing content for accuracy and completeness using quality assurance tools.
- Four-year college degree and MBA is preferred; 10+ years’ experience in lieu of a degree required.
- Computer proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Strong skills in Excel / PowerPoint; ability to learn and work with MS Project.
- A technical background with familiarity of Maintenance, Repair and Operating Materials is recommended. A working knowledge of M.R.P., JIT, and related systems is desirable.
- Minimum five (5) years in strategic sourcing/category management. Three (3) years in sourcing MRO related materials or relevant categories
