Job Title: Cashier/Checker

Reports to: Store Manager

Department: Grocery

Job Description:

Greets customers at cash register, totals up groceries, makes change and offers any other help requested.

Skills Required:

• Reasoning: using common sense while following instructions.
• Math: multiply, divide, add, subtract, make change or measure.
• Language: reading instructions and speaking clearly.
• Excellent verbal communication.

Work Hours: As scheduled. Candidate will need weekend availability.

Physical and Mental Abilities:

• Temperament: Working with people, doing repetitive work, working quickly, doing precise work with accuracy.
• Stress: Using emotional control, tolerating repetition, sustaining attention.
• Vision: The work cannot be done by a non-sighted or legally blind person but could be done by a person with limited vision.
• Hearing: While work cannot be done by a deaf person or non-speaking person, it could be done by a person who does not hear as well as normal.
• Lifting: Moderate, requires lifting up to 50 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects.
• Work position: 90% standing, 9% walking, 1% sitting.

Job Functions:

1. To handle and count money accurately, bag and carry out purchases.

2. To be able to recognize all produce items and know their PLU number.

3. Keep front-end work area clean

4. All front-end duties assigned by Store Manager or Front-End Supervisor.

5. Have a complete understanding and working knowledge of all check-stand procedures ad policies.

6. Face merchandise, stock items as needed

7. Any emergency duties as assigned by Store Manager.

Priority List/ Assignment of Hours:

1. As needed. Cashiers are hired to fill a need for front end service and will be used primarily for that purpose.

2. Employee availability.

3. Ability to perform needed tasks.

4. Seniority.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
