Dauphin County Department of Mental Health, Autism, and Developmental Programs is currently accepting applications for the full-time, first shift (7:00 AM- 3:00 PM) or (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) Caseworker 1 position. Existing Crisis Intervention Program Caseworker employees can apply based on their current status.

The Caseworker 1 provides immediate response to a wide variety of life crisis situations for individuals in Dauphin County within a 24-hour emergency Crisis Intervention program. The Caseworker 1 delivers a range of crisis services over the phone, in the office, and in a variety of community settings including shelters, personal care homes, other locations frequented by homeless individuals, emergency rooms, police stations, private residences, public places, employment sites, nursing homes and schools. Consumers include all ages with special emphasis on young persons, the elderly, minorities/special populations, and persons with severe and persistent mental illness or developmental challenges. The work assigned is limited in scope and difficulty and is performed under close supervision. As knowledge and skills are acquired, more latitude in judgment and decision making is permitted. The Caseworker 1 works under supervision of a Casework Supervisor. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Individuals employed as a Caseworker 1 shall, after completion of six (6) months satisfactory performance, be promoted to the appropriate classification of Caseworker 2. This amount is subject to change.

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences field and one year of professional experience in a public or private social services agency may be eligible for a Caseworker 2 position with a higher starting rate. Please refer to our open job opportunities on our website to apply.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a human services major such as sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

Other Requirements

A resume along with a copy of either an official or unofficial college transcript must be attached to the application.
