Carpenter Helper
(Maintenance Department)
240 days a year
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Five (5) years of experience preferred
- Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in this trade
- Ability to perform carpentry work and care for tools, materials and equipment safely
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record
- Grasp, lift, maneuver, carry, push, pull, move, and set down (50-80 lbs.) objects on a daily basis safely
- Safety Oriented
- Pass a physical examination

Specific Job Duties
(1) Performs assigned routine carpentry preventive maintenance
(2) Assist carpenter in completion of work orders assigned
(3) Assist carpenter in transporting tools, supplies, equipment, and materials to and from job site
(4) Assist carpenter in fabricating, design, and construction of jobs
(5) Improves skills by attending training opportunities
(6) Ability to operate power tools, such as saws, drills, wrenches, and various carpentry tools
(7) Ability to make simple measurements, cuts, bends, shapes, applies, mixes, or otherwise handle materials and substances in accordance with instructions
(8) Advises on the selection, ordering, and storage of carpentry supplies, materials, and equipment
(9) Performs all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or by Superintendent

(6) Complies with policies GAMA Employee Tobacco Use and GAMD Drug-Free Workplace when on duty

Terms of Employment
8 hours per day - 12 months (240 days)
There shall be a probationary period of 90 days from date of employment for new employees. After 90 days, a decision based upon an evaluation will be rendered in regards to the employee’s status as a permanent employee.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of non-instructional personnel
The Superintendent reserves the right to change the job and any other duties, as required, with advance written notification.
