General Description
While the Campus Minister reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministry, he/she works in tandem with the Faculty, the Dean of Students, the Counselor, and the Staff as a key member of the Ministry Program at the school. The goal of the position is to foster an environment of trust and ensure a solid foundation of Faith for the student body, as well as the faculty and staff – collectively and individually. To plant and nurture a strong conviction in the belief of a higher power that acts in their favor, it is important that the campus minister creates and maintains a positive, open, and welcoming program within the school. The campus minister is also expected to attend faculty meetings and Parent-Teacher Conferences along with other events that are mandatory for faculty.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- General
- The Campus Minister is expected to arrive at school by 7:25 a.m. for Morning Prayer and Announcements. On a regular basis, he/she leads an early morning prayer service in the chapel for any student or faculty/staff that wishes to attend
- Makes and maintains essential relationships with external related parties (Accompanists, Parish Clergy, Support Agencies, etc) for professional referrals and support
- Attend all of the non-school day events that are required
- Maintain the Chapel and Ministry office to ensure a clean, welcoming space for all
- School Mass and Retreats (Students and Faculty)
- Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive Student Retreat Program; includes ensuring that all support staff and volunteers are arranged for and compensated as applicable, as well as increasing student participation
- Plan and coordinate all School Liturgies and Reconciliation Services
- Plan and develop a Liturgical Music/choir
- Ministry Program
- Help plan a spiritual dimension for the various cultural activities within the school
- Develop the school Service Program
- Is regularly visible to students and creates an open and approachable environment to encourage all students to seek and develop a spiritual foundation in their life
- Provides encouragement and support for faculty members
- Works with Dean, Counselor, and Teachers in helping students whose personal concerns/issues affect their school performance
- Record Keeping
- Maintains accurate, confidential records on each student/parent meeting
- Presents a weekly or bi-weekly (non-confidential) summary to the Director
- Director Support
- Meets regularly with the Director to review the week’s activities and discuss issues
- Attends parent-teacher conferences, welcome nights, and other related functions
