JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Camp Program Director, the Camp Sports Program Specialist is responsible for carrying out all duties related to his/her assigned program in a manner consistent with the aims of the Old Colony Y. The Camp Sports Program Specialist will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities will reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency. She/he will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties. Examples of sports played at camp are baseball, basketball, kickball, dodgeball, etc.

JOB FUNCTION:

• PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

• Develop appropriate sports activities for various skill and age levels
• Plan and lead daily activities for groups of campers.
• Ensure a fun and safe environment
• Ensure an appropriate ratio at all times
• Ensure checklists are completed daily
• Adhere to all DPH regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies and procedures

• FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adhere to all fiscal policies as outlined by the Association

• FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that a sanitary healthy environment is maintained
• Be familiar with emergency procedures
• Ensure checklists are completed daily

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be at least16 years old
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• Evidence of physical examination every two years. Certification of good health from a physician
• Negative Mantoux TB test. Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
• General knowledge of all camp programs, facilities, fees and policies.
• Ability to read, write, talk, see and hear.
• Ability to plan and initiate age appropriate games and activities.
• Ability to teach and provide leadership.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.
• Ability to be creative and resourceful.
• Possesses a strong understanding of the YMCA and its purpose, mission and values. Demonstrates this understanding through behavior and actions that support the purpose, mission and values.
