CampHire is recruiting a Program Coordinator to oversee outdoor adventure programs at an overnight Jewish summer camp in Wisconsin. The position is based in Lake Delton, WI during the summer (at camp), and Chicago the remainder of the year. Compensation range is $45k to $55k plus benefits.

This position is responsible for the design and implementation of three outdoor camp programs.

  • Outpost Village Program: The Outpost Village is a 2-week outdoor adventure specialty program for 6th-8th graders. The program is a holistic approach to outdoor education to help campers form deep connections to the natural world. Participants live in 30-foot yurts in a secluded area of camp. Campers participate in nature-based activities including trail building, natural art, gardening, canoeing, and outdoor cooking, as well as attend offsite overnight camping and boating trips. This is a new program at camp.
  • Pacific Northwest (PNW) Adventure Trip: PNW is a 5-week teen tour for 10th graders that explores US National Parks across 11 states. The trip is led by highly trained guides and all travel is done by air-conditioned coach bus. Campers hike during the day, cook their own meals, and sleep in tents at campsites each night.
  • Outdoor Adventure Program: Campers of all ages participate in daily outdoor adventure programs onsite including high & low ropes, aerial adventure park, zip lining, horseback riding, and more. In addition campers go on overnight camping, hiking, and boating trips throughout the summer.

This position reports to the Associate Director and will manage a team of seasonal outdoor adventure specialists including PNW guides, Outpost Village counselors, and overnight trip leaders.

What you’ll do

  • Program Development: Manage all outdoor adventure programs from end-to-end. This includes strategic planning, curriculum development, marketing, staff hiring, and camper recruitment, as well as building out the new Outpost Village Program.
  • Marketing: Design and execute marketing plans to attract new campers to outdoor adventure programs and boost enrollment in the Outpost Village Program and PNW trip.
  • Planning: Oversee logistics of PNW program including booking campsite reservations, route planning, staff recruitment, and camper enrollment. Schedule day-to-day activities, logistics, space usage, and transportation for the Outpost Village program. Oversee booking of overnight trips for all campers and coordination of schedules for trip leaders.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop outdoor education curriculum tailored to each program type and customized for a broad set of camper needs of all ages, abilities and learning styles.
  • People Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a staff of Outdoor Adventure specialists and provide ongoing professional development throughout the summer.
  • Year-Round Office Support: Assist leadership team with general office administration and planning activities including but not limited to camper recruitment, event planning, program development, staff communication, camper engagement, and providing onsite support at camp during the offseason to host retreats and events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in planning & logistics required
  • Experience in outdoor recreation and/or education preferred
  • Experience in customer service / hospitality preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and ability to quickly learn new systems and platforms required. Experience using CampMinder and/or Salesforce preferred
  • Based in the Midwest within driving distance of Chicago required
