Job Description:
As a Lead, you will assist the managers in executing store operations during your scheduled shifts. You will oversee service, position staff, delegate tasks, and provide support to all positions. You will lead the staff in creating the Huckleberry experience for our customers by engaging with all guests in a warm and welcoming manner, providing prompt service, ensuring only the highest quality of food and beverage is served, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.
General Responsibilities:
- Follow Huckleberry cash handling procedures to open and close the registers during your assigned shift.
- Organize and assign opening and closing duties to ensure that standards are met on a daily basis and every station is ready for the next shift.
- Play an active role in service, touching tables and covering breaks to ensure interaction with every station on a daily basis.
- Monitor and coordinate FOH team breaks.
- Identify moments of downtime and delegate side work to ensure that daily tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist the Management Team in ensuring that all company policies are being adhered to, including time and attendance policy, uniform policy, music policy, time and temperature, and health department regulations, etc.
- Provide respectful coaching to staff if needed to ensure all tasks are done correctly.
- Actively communicate staff and operational needs and concerns with the Management Team to ensure that the team has all the necessary tools for running successfully.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by providing an example of positive and professional behavior even under moments of stress and strain. Actively encourage a positive and professional perspective with the rest of the staff.
- Recognize any concerns or changes in employee behavior or morale and communicate them to the Management team in a timely manner making sure to maintain professionalism and positivity while engaging with staff.
- Assist with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Provide feedback on training progress to the Management Team.
- Assist with End of Month procedures including organization and inventory
- Ensure all tasks within your assigned area of responsibility (beverage, admin, catering, or operations) are completed on a weekly basis.
- Other duties as assigned by the Management team.
Beverage Lead Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the restaurant is appropriately stocked with all beverages by monitoring usages on a daily basis and ordering accurately, on time, and within budget expectations (copying Management Team on all orders)
- Communicate production needs with the kitchen and bakery team as needed
- Maintain beverage recipes
- Maintain beverage menu key
- Work with Management Team to update beverage menu on a seasonal basis
- Facilitate beverage station training for new and existing staff
- Ensure that beverage station is kept clean and organized
- Communicate equipment needs and concerns with the Management Team in a timely manner
- Accurately inventorying all beverage items at the end of every month, ensuring that pricing is up to date for each item
Administrative Lead Responsibilities:
- Update paper menus using Huckleberry formatting standards before the launch of any menu change
- Create and print labels for pastry and cold case items
- Maintain in-house menu, making sure there are enough printed menus and that the kids menu is stocked and offered to guests with children
- Maintain retail stock, communicate with the bakery when items need to be replenished and communicate with the Management Team when stock is running low on Huckleberry branded items to ensure they can be ordered before running out
- Ensure that retail labels and tags are printed accurately and stocked for every retail item
- Communicate with Operations Lead when tags and labels need to be ordered
- Ensure that retail, labels, and menus are all kept neat and organized
- Accurately inventory all retail items at the end of every month
Operations Lead Responsibilities:
- Work with Management Team to find the most cost effective and brand appropriate paper and packaging products
- Ensure that the restaurant is appropriately stocked with all paper and packaging by monitoring usages on a daily basis and ordering accurately and on time (copying Management Team on all orders)
- Coordinate with beverage, admin, and catering leads to ensure all paper and packaging needs are met for their areas of responsibility
- Communicate any shortages or other ordering issues with the Management team in a timely manner so that alternative solutions can be found
- Ensure that paper and packaging items are all kept neat and organized, including the garage
- Accurately inventory all paper and packaging supplies at the end of every month ensuring that pricing is up to date for each item
Catering Lead Responsibilities:
- Monitor catering order platform and ensure that all orders are communicated with the kitchen daily
- Oversee the packaging of all catering orders and ensure that they are ready to go no less than 15 minutes prior to their schedule pick up time
- Ensure that all staff is trained on how catering orders should be packaged
- Work with Catering Coordinator to ensure that all offsite catering orders and packaged and loaded at the appropriate time
- Communicate with the Catering Coordinator and Operations lead to ensure all packaging and labeling supplies are stocked at all times
- Ensure that catering packaging station, labels, and supplies are kept neat and organized
- Accurately inventory all catering supplies at the end of every month
- Communicate any special requests in store to the catering coordinator as well as the chefs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Food Handlers Permit.
- At least 3 years of experience in a fast paced service environment.
- Strong interest in food, coffee, and wine.
- Solid knowledge of basic service procedures and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of cash handling standards.
