Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY: The Consolidated Service Center Buyer is responsible for all drug procurement within the drug distribution consolidated service center (CSC) including the utilization and maintenance of information systems designed to support drug distribution procurement, such as the pharmacy inventory management system, pharmacy ordering platforms, and 340B split billing software. In doing so, prepares reports and assures correct charging and issuing of pharmaceuticals Adheres to OSF Healthcare System’s preferred contracts to insure contract compliance. Employs inventory management principles to insure optimization of just in time (JIT) inventory and inventory turns. Prepares purchase orders, oversees product receipt, breakout, and stocking of pharmaceuticals and related materials for the CSC Prepares reports and assures correct charging and issuing of pharmaceuticals as applicable. Oversees pharmacy recall and return processes. Assists with management of drug shortages. Acts as a liaison between Pharmacy, Supply Chain, and other operating departments as applicable. Qualifications:
Licensure/Certifications: Pharmacy Technician License in Illinois
Other skills/knowledge: Ability to read and write, to review and update computer databases, to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in order to purchase medications and fill orders, and to perform basic arithmetic calculations at a level normally acquired through completion of high school. Must type at an acceptable professional level of speed and accuracy in order to prepare medication labels. Ability to demonstrate independent problem solving, decision-making abilities, and prioritization/delegation. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to work well with others. Good organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities to process detailed information in an accurate manner. Excellent computer skills, including the ability to utilize Word, Excel, vendor-ordering platforms, and inventory management software. Ability to keep abreast of trends in contemporary pharmacy supply chain best practice, including pharmacy distribution standards and technologies and knowledge in mathematics, pharmaceutical, and medical terminology, and purchasing principles in order to place orders, verify shipping orders to invoices, and maintain various inventory logs and information systems(s).

Other skills/knowledge: Knowledge of 340B regulations and procurement compliance. Knowledge of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) and FDA regulatory tracking requirements for medications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: 3 years of progressively more responsible pharmacy technician experience directly within a healthcare system, hospital, or related pharmacy setting.
Licensure/Certifications: Pharmacy Technician License in Illinois
Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) validated by PTCB or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification OR Pharmacy Technician License in Illinois registered and active prior to January 1, 2008

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates Degree in business or healthcare related field
Experience: 1 year of experience working directly with pharmacy suppliers and distributors. 2 years of experience working directly with pharmacy ordering platforms and software. 2 years of experience with pharmacy automation, including inventory management systems, 340B split billing software, and pharmacy unit dose packaging equipment. 1 year of experience with ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems.
