Business Unit Manager (Ripley Tools) - Flexible location! Job at Hubbell, Inc.
Develops and executes strategies to grow Ripley business with wireless equipment, cable, and connector manufacturing partners. This is a key role within the company which will lead to long-term sustainable growth. The role leverages existing OEM manufacturer partnerships, industry-leading new product development capabilities, and expertise in wireless and cable preparation and installation tools and testing applications. The Business Development Director will target key OEM partners and grow the business measured by resulting direct or indirect profit contribution. Ripley Tools is a leading manufacturer of utility infrastructure installation and testing tools with facilities in the US (Connecticut, New Hampshire), Canada, and the United Kingdom and part of Hubbell Incorporated, a $4 Billion global supplier of electrical and utility products.
Responsibilities:
- Engage actively with other manufacturers to partner for sales of Ripley Tools products to end user customers.
- Seek new business for sell-to, sell-through, and sell-with opportunities, including private label sales under other company brands.
- Engage with wireless, cable and connectivity infrastructure manufacturers to co-develop new products via Ripley Labs for telecom, wireless, and power utility installation markets.
- Develop strategies and plans to target key opportunities with a matrix leadership approach across the company and channel partners.
- Communicate strategies, plans, and needed actions effectively across the organization to assure alignment and achievement.
- Develop long-term relationships with customers, partners, and industry influencers.
- Extensive travel required in North America with occasional international travel.
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience required with utility infrastructure markets, including wireless (cellular & microwave antenna and systems), outside plant (telecom, cable TV, and power utility cables and related solutions), and other mission critical utility applications. Familiarity with antenna, tower, underground and aerial cable, and related connector solutions and suppliers.
- An existing network of contacts at cable, connectivity and wireless infrastructure manufacturers is preferred including companies such as Corning, Prysmian, Nexans, AFL, Southwire, Sumitomo, Senko, Commscope, Hexatronics, Belden, Rosenberger, Valmont, JMA Wireless, RFS, and others.
- Ability to develop industry relationships, identify new opportunities, and create and execute strategies that result in new business in a dynamic marketplace.
- Must have over five (5) years’ experience in sales or business development in a related industry. Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM systems. Must have leadership ability and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage in a matrix organization and create professional relationships with OEM’s at all levels. A proven ability to plan and execute large account business opportunities and effectively manage account presence and growth is required.
