Business and Engineering Operations within the OCTO HPE organization is responsible for enabling accountability and alignment across the Office of CTO on wide range of activities including budgeting, head count & hiring, procurement, contracts/Statement of Work (SOW)/POs, Business Continuity, AWS Cost Optimization, etc. needed for the smooth running of the organization.
What you'll do:
We are seeking a full-time Business Operations Manager. This position is responsible to manage the deployment of CAPPlan tool, progress and support the optimization of AWS Spend, and contribute to the business and engineering operations functions within the Office of the CTO. CAPPlan tool provides visibility to assignment of the resources to the projects and forms the foundation of the resource spend for full time and contractor resources. Optimization of the AWS Spend involves working with the Engineering, Product Management and Financial Ops teams to support and progress various initiatives across the organization. In addition, the role will involve in contributing to the various business operations such as month end flash reporting, budgeting activities, maintaining spend trackers, SOW/PO creations, etc. This position is work closely with multiple teams including, but not limited to, Operations, Engineering, Product Management, Finance, HR etc.

Captures and evaluates data and develops recommendations and insights to meet strategic goals. Oversees and partners with cross-functional teams to develop data-focused models. Prepares comprehensive implementation tactics, including execution plans, resource allocation plans, follow-up guidelines, assessment, and process accountabilities. Ensures that business activities are aligned with stated plans among different stakeholders. Sets business metrics, evaluates actual performance, and makes recommendations to business managers on performance target achievement. Develops data-focused analyses to optimize resources and ensure that business operations activities can be translated into value.

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Supports and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant personal judgment to find best methods for accomplishing work and achieving goals. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy and maintain CapPlan tool across the OCTO organization and generate monthly reports on resource assignment to projects
- Further AWS Cost optimization initiative and generate monthly spend reports on AWS spend
- Produce and deliver in a timely manner all general support requests, operational requests, schedule & ad-hoc reports under tight deadlines.
- Use software to collect and aggregate data from multiple sources; perform QA to ensure data integrity and verify the data by conducting preliminary data analysis.
- Works with internal customers to identify requirements by interviewing, figuring out project scope, performing analytics as needed, documenting results, and preparing customer reporting.
- Contribute and develop policies and procedures to document and standardize new and existing team processes.
- Develop a proficiency in and a business understanding of OCTO operations and data sources within assigned departments.
- Participate as subject matter expert in projects that support the overall business unit and/or enterprise initiatives.
- Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive policies and processes.
- Perform a combination of data analysis, visualization, and business analysis.
- Understand, get trained, and comply with HPE’s security requirements and policies.
- Interpret financial data and develop insights
- Manages complex data and business analyses and identifies recommendations and insights.
- Works on their own to construct highly complex statistical and financial models to forecast business performance; coaches others on model development.
- Establishes the metrics required to measure business performance, and develops the process for identifying and addressing performance gaps.
- Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the entire span of business operations activities.
- Contributes to priority projects by adding creative insights and developing recommendations.
- Identifies cutting-edge analytical tools, models, and methods for making key business decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- Typically 6-10 years work experience in strategy, planning, operations, finance, or related functional area.
- Advanced university degree preferred- (e.g., MBA) or demonstrable equivalent.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience: Five to ten years of experience as business analyst preferably in engineering and business operations.
- Language Skills: Excellent oral communication and written communication. Ability to read, comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and reports. Ability to write correspondence, memos, reports, etc.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with others through clear and consistent communication.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables; demonstrate ability to analyze difficult situations, problems, and data.
- Strong business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility.
- Ability to leverage new analytical techniques to develop creative approaches to business analysis.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of how to analyze business problems using Excel, Access, statistical analysis, and financial modeling.
- Very strong project management skills, including leading large, cross-functional initiatives.
- Developed leadership skills, including team-building, conflict resolution, and management.
