    College/Department Information

    The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation’s largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG’s expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America’s children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

    Job Summary

    Oversee all financial, personnel, administrative, operations, facilities, practice aspects of division management for Hospital Medicine, Student Clerkship and Internal Medicine Residency program. Responsible for working directly with IM clinic operations (Practice Site Coordinator, Department Administrator & Division Chief) to manage and promote the Patient Centered Medical Home.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    Administrative: Provide administrative support to Senior Administrator, Chairman for the Department of Medicine and subspecialty division managers. Collaborate with AU Health leadership to enhance current practices that support the missions of AUMC. In collaboration with the Hospitalist Medical Director, assures that appropriate quality improvement systems are in place to fulfill the operational and strategic goals of AU Medical Center. Assists in the development and provision of continuing professional education programs for the medical staff, support staff, graduate, and post-graduate medical education and acts as a liaison with residency and clerkship directors in matters concerning resident and medical student rotations.
    Financials: Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and reconciling all financial activity within the Department of Medicine and more specifically the division of Hospital Medicine. Duties include but are not limited to: providing financial analysis to support existing/planned operations; preparation and/or approval of all expenditures in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Ensures compliance with AU state appropriations, departmental sales and grant accounts, MCG and GHSU Foundations and AUMA policies when applicable; monthly reconciling of all financial information ensuring that all expenses are allocated correctly; preparing monthly analysis of contract billing information; prepare the annual personnel budgets for faculty and staff to include coordinating all resources (i.e. AUMA, GME, RI, Foundation, Extramural Grants, etc.) and entering budget into PeopleSoft Financials; developing/implementing internal control policies/procedures.
    Personnel Management: Recruitment, training, and supervision of all Hospital Medicine administrative staff. Effectively utilize assigned resources to meet staffing needs. Oversee and delegate work to support staff ensuring quality and timeliness of work and equity of duties. Utilize current staffing levels and set priorities which meet division needs. Complete staff evaluations accurately, review with Senior Administrator /Division Chief, submit by deadlines. Address performance issues promptly and directly while adhering to department and AU policies. Organize day-to-day office activities, manage workflow, meeting all deadlines for program. Review, approve Leave Requests for all staff in OneUSG. Ensure accurate and timely completion and submission of effort reports, approve Time and Attendance reports, exempt leave reports. Maintain up-to-date position classification forms for all positions included in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or related discipline and three years of progressive management experience to include some supervisory experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    Ability to maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

    Shift/Salary/Benefits

    Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
    Pay Grade: 17
    Salary Minimum: $44,967 - Midpoint: $60,705
    Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
