Since our family-owned company’s founding in 1960, big-box retailers and major multinational brands have trusted us to acquire their overstock and returns, providing excess or out-of-date inventory and canceled items to our clients.

The Bazaar is looking for an outgoing, hard-working self-starter to add to our sales department. We seek a Sales Director who has an entrepreneurial spirit, wholesale selling experience, demonstrated business development expertise, and track record of success. You should be experienced and have demonstrated achievement in sales leadership and will be focused on WINNING new business with prospective customers. We are looking for an outstanding client relationship and solution-oriented hunter to acquire new business and increase sales within our Wholesale business unit. Our ICP includes large and mid-market discount retailers, grocery outlet chains, and dollar stores nationally and internationally. We have secured strategic and exclusive relationships with some of the largest fortune 500 CPG and retail closeout sources on the planet. Our current customer base is growing, totaling over 8,000 stores domestically. Your job will be to grow that base profitably.

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer and working together with Purchasing, Inventory, Warehouse, and Finance, our sales representatives focus their efforts on securing relationships with qualified targets and decision makers to uncover opportunities, develop effective partnerships, and increase profitability. For over 60 years The Bazaar has specialized in acquiring and selling large volumes of close-out brand name items. We are the leaders in purchased overstocks, discontinued items, and seconds from brand name manufacturers. We seek to add to our team a high-energy, coach/player lead who will accelerate our programs, embrace new technology and selling techniques, and rapidly grow our strategic, large and mid-market segments focusing almost exclusively on new customer acquisition. Requirements:


Essential Job Functions:

  • Grow our wholesale business unit topline sales and margins consistent with company plan objectives by +7% in year one and +10% in year 2.
  • Acquire new business via prospecting, cold calling, email/SMS and trade shows. Develop acquisition capabilities for the company by implementing and utilizing modern CRM toolsets and techniques and partnering with business partners and third parties.
  • Utilize proven sales methods and help the team migrate to a consistent and repeatable “playbook” approach that enables us to build, codify and optimize our new account acquisition operations.
  • Exhibit and model high energy, urgency, enthusiasm, and a winning attitude.
  • Manage fast paced and constant product turnover.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities for self and assigned 1P or 3P partners to achieve sales goals. Gain access to and influence decision-makers at all levels in client organizations.
  • Display high EQ and practice situational leadership while staying focused on short- and long-term goals.
  • Create market awareness, build relationships with purchasing executives, develop/nurture leads and execute consultative selling with prospects while implementing repeatable, scalable, and outcome-oriented offerings.
  • Build and report out to executives and peers a predictive, analytical and reliable funnel that can be used for planning and decision making.
  • Work as a team player and help develop other AEs, BDRs and sales associates/admins as required over time.
  • Periodic travel to trade shows in the Chicago area (local) and in Las Vegas and Philadelphia (current external trade show schedule is 4-5X per year)
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
  • B2B sales experience in the wholesale/closeout/retail segment
  • Experience and proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce.com etc.)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is a requirement.
  • Management/leadership experience
  • Familiarity with prospecting lead sources (ZoomInfo, Sales Intel, 3P databases etc.).
  • Proven track record and experience in growing sales at different levels and cost types of merchandise, characterized by extremely short sales cycles and both large and small dollar transactions.
  • Completion of formal training or certification in selling techniques/methodologies/sales operations and/or sales excellence and leadership
  • Pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screening, Background Check).
  • The employee must be proficient in English. Bilingual: Spanish a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Be able to work from the River Grove location; the company does not offer 100% remote employment for this role.
  • This job requires periodic travel ~4-5x per year to attend trade shows in the following Cities: Las Vegas, Philadelphia.
  • 3P BPO currently – the candidate should be able to manage and lead sales support specialists and sales execution roles over time.
