LOCATION
Please note that this is a Field Sales role based out of the Southeast Michigan area. The ideal candidate will be based out of Southeast Michigan or open to relocation to this area.
Target Salary Range:
$89,600-$158,700 per year (salary to be determined by geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for initiating and coordinating activities that create new business in the Granules & Compounds product line within the AMR region related to Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrains.
  • Responsible for identifying and courting strategic market segment customer business while identifying and developing new business opportunities, including coordination of technical support and product specification efforts to define and meet customer needs and product qualification requirements.
  • Responsible for development of sales to EV powertrain accounts, understanding and identification of additional growth areas at new and existing accounts, making product innovation recommendations supported by market and business cases to win resources and launch new products.
  • Understand and advise the leadership on the market dynamics, changes, growth and other market driven factors for the changing powertrains.
  • Establish and develop relationships and activities that increase Evonik’s new business opportunities in quantity, quality and magnitude.
  • Work closely with Global Market Specialists, Managers, Directors, Technical and Manufacturing resources to ensure timely completion of Business Development initiatives in support of Business Growth Strategies and develop opportunities into routine sales.
  • Understand the technical specification environment and put Evonik in a position to understand and meet the technical requirements of OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers as well as attend and be members of the appropriate industry teams like SAE, or other regulatory groups.
  • Identify and develop new sales and profit opportunities in the Automotive and Mobility market segment specifically for Electric Vehicle powertrains. Define the requirements of potential new customers and related applications upon which business development efforts are focused. Ensure that the business development process is followed to adequately define target opportunity requirements.
  • In conjunction with the Segment Manager and the other automotive strategic account managers create, annually maintain and execute the 5-year forward looking Electric Vehicle Automotive Business Plan for the AMR region in conjunction with colleagues in APR and EU.
  • Properly document customer visits in the CRM system and provide monthly updates and reports as required. Report status and progress of EV automotive sales activities and development projects in North America
  • Plan, organize (incl. milestones) and lead selected key business development, technical, and sales projects. Work with the Automotive Segment Manager, Regional Business Director and Global Automotive Director by providing market intelligence, investigating assigned EV markets or applications. Develop market information including: competing products, technologies and companies, market size, growth, profitability, product costs, product specifications, and customer needs, etc.
  • Create and implement a networking strategy that will support the generation of new sales opportunities. Identify and recommend or participate in relevant conferences, business & technical seminars, trade meetings, etc. to make new contacts and identify new business development opportunities

REQUIREMENTS
  • Technical Degree in Mechanical, Process, Electrical or Chemical Engineering OR similar degree, plus 3 - 5 years of related Electric Vehicle automotive industry experience with a thermoplastic manufacturing background a plus.
  • Masters of Business Administration – preferred – any discipline
  • Understanding of the basic financial and marketing techniques used to evaluate projects/products/markets for further investment.
  • Business development history with an ability to engage in technical discussions with customers/partners regarding product and application uses.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Requires interpersonal skills to work in a multicultural global matrix organization
  • General knowledge of Evonik’s product markets and strategies
