SWBC is seeking a talented individual to create and modify Visual Basic Applications (VBA) code for macros and JavaScript in reports for business and accounting processes. This individual will make recommendations and changes in order to improve and support business/accounting activities for SWBC Professional Employer Organization (PEO). This individual will utilize systems and data to resolve business/accounting issues in the most effective and productive manner and will maintain current systems and assist in the implementation of the new systems.

Essential duties include the following:
  • Creates custom macros in VBA to help internal staff with increasing productivity.
  • Creates custom reports in Informer with JavaScript.
  • Produces and submits various reports to executive and senior management.
  • Assists clients with the creation of custom reports to meet their business needs.
  • Monitor the business financial reports to ensure their accuracy.
  • Assists with annual client re-pricing.
  • Audits the control environment to ensure accurate financial reporting and controls are in place and that all components’ costs/rates/premiums due and payable by PEO clients or worksite employees are accurately calculated and collected/paid.
  • Collaborates with the accounting and benefits teams to ensure they have the tools available to efficiently complete their reconciliation of payments to vendors/state tax collectors as well as the reconciliation of income and costs to the General Ledger (GL).
  • Analyzes all federal, state, and local payroll tax data to ensure compliance with tax filings and corresponds with federal, state, and local tax authorities to resolve questions on returns filed.
  • Creates, reviews, and assists with account reconciliations.
  • Performs various financial analyses of client profitability, operating costs, payroll expenses, etc.
  • Assists members of the PEO accounting and payroll teams in the creation of customized financial reports requested by PEO clients.
  • Coordinates with PEO management and their staff in preparing custom reports and macros.
  • Participates in ad-hoc projects and due diligence efforts.
  • Ensures the accounting team and external team members are informed of business process changes, business issues, technical system information, etc. by communicating and collaborating with team members on a regular basis.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer programming or related field from an accredited four year college or university required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with creating macros utilizing VBA code.
  • Strong understanding of accounting-related processes and procedures relating to software development and implementation.
  • Ability to work in and learn multiple systems.
  • Working knowledge of audit procedures and processes, financial reporting, accounting and variance analysis, and continuous improvements.
  • Working knowledge of program and project business case analysis, return on investment (ROI), application lifecycle and technology roadmaps, developing business capability plans, and cost accounting/financial analytics preferred.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of data reporting, retrieval and analysis tools, financial management methodologies, and financial algorithms, such as variance, profit/loss, cost, and financial statement analysis.
  • Working knowledge of gathering and analyzing business intelligence in order to make recommendation to improve company results.
  • Exposure to managing multiple project management lifecycles, writing and maintaining clear and concise project documentation, and managing change control.
  • General understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system software such as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, NetSuite or Workday.
  • Working knowledge of payroll processing and related employment tax calculation and filings.
  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) to query relational databases like oracle MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Exceptional communication, preparation, and interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with a wide range of personnel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer and keyboard skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, index matching, vlookups, etc.
  • Able to influence others and build strong rapport with internal customers.
  • Able to work independently, cross-functional, and in team environments.
  • Able to use basic office equipment, including copy machine, personal computer, and fax.
  • Able to type 35 WPM.
  • Able to travel locally or nationally by car or plane.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.
  • Able to push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.
