Ben Weitsman of Rochester, a division of Weitsman Family of Companies, the East Coast’s largest privately held scrap metal processor, is currently looking for an experienced Burner for our Rochester, NY location.

Position Overview:

• Examine metal to ensure proper size specifications.
• Operate an oxy-acetyl torch for cutting various sizes of metal to specified dimensions.
• Responsible for cleaning, storage and maintaining assigned PPE and equipment.
• Adherence with company safety and environmental standards
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order
• Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years previous torch/burner experience
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate cutting torch
• Must be qualified to wear a respirator and be able to pass a respiratory fit test.
• Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset

This position requires the following personal protective equipment be worn at all times:

• Safety glasses.
• Head protection.
• Hard toe work boots.
• High visibility safety vest.
• Other protective equipment as required.
