We are currently seeking a Building/Equipment Mechanic to join the team at our Norwalk, IA food processing location.
Job Responsibilites:
- Maintain production facilities and equipment such as processing, packaging, foiling, and labeling of support machinery in/out building.
- Obtain knowledge of packaging technology as well as support equipment such as HVAC, wastewater, plumbing, shelves, pipe, concrete and grounds around the building.
- Repair, install, maintain, and adjust high-speed packing equipment to perform industrial machinery as well as troubleshoot.
- Maintain building facilities so that they are in optimal conditions for fellow employees to perform their jobs in a safe and timely manner.
- Recognize cost saving opportunities and implement strategies.
- Assist employees to resolve machine problems.
- Work with other mechanics to troubleshoot mechanical, electronic and control issues with machines.
- Operate and maintain plow truck and bobcat truck in addition to building maintenance.
- Perform all other assigned duties inside and outside of the building.
Basic Skills Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of electronics studies are preferred or 3 to 5 years' experience as a packaging technician (food plant experience preferred)
- Strong mechanical/electrical skills, ability to troubleshoot and the ability to use machine shop tools safely and effectively
- Must be familiar with machines equipped with IQF, PLC's, VFD's, temperature controllers and food processing equipment
- Knowledge of inkjet printing equipment, labeling machines, metal detectors, dynamic scales, and glue applicators.
- Experience with Electrical and Electronic Control Systems
- The ability to perform tasks with and without supervision
- Must have good communication skills and the ability and desire to work well within a team environment
- Must be able to train individuals and listen to department concerns
- Must have experience with lock-out/tag-out safety procedures
