Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Branch Manager II to join our Downtown Santa Barbara Branch. The Branch Manager II will be sales oriented requiring adeptness in all aspects of branch management, sales, new account functions and security. Position requires the ability to generate, evaluate and successfully close on a wide range of consumer and business deposit and loan activities. Branch Manager II will be a player/coach to the sales team and is required to lead, manage, direct and motivate branch associates to maintain standards of high performance to goals and profitability. This position will be responsible for overall branch management while partnering with Branch Support for the operational soundness of the branch. This position will also mentor and coach all BM and PB sales positions.
Minimum Requirements, Activities & Responsibilities
Education and Experience:
- A four-year degree, or commensurate banking experience
- Minimum seven years sales experience
- Minimum five years supervisory experience
- Minimum seven years previous banking
- The ability to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLSR), under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE ACT), and maintain the registration as required. These standards include, among other things, passing a criminal background check and a satisfactory credit report obtained from a consumer reporting agency.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for deposit growth through household acquisition and new business
- Responsible for growing the segment of business lending
- Solicits new business through communication with existing customers and prospects
- Develops customer relationships to determine and analyze financial needs
- Partners with an assigned Enterprise Sales Advisor to drive household acquisition, single-family residential mortgages, business lending and referrals to Wealth Management
- Engages in customer conversations to understand client’s financial complexities.
- Develops unique and profitable Financial Solutions to best meet clients’ needs
- Oversees cross-selling efforts of the branch staff; facilitates staff referrals of bank and other line of business products and services
- Sets appropriate goals for individual associates within the branch based on branch annual goals
- In conjunction with management team, regularly conducts branch sales meetings to educate, motivate and incent staff
- Ensures that branch staff achieve and/or surpass established sales goals
- Responsible for development and implementation of annual and long-range business plans for the branch
- Ensures that staff is properly trained on new products, services and procedures
- Ability to perform teller functions and maintain knowledge of basic daily operational duties when necessary
- Ability to open accounts and perform general personal banker tasks when necessary
- Responsible for accepting loan applications, collecting financials and participating in loan closings as applicable
- Responsible and accountable for the overall branch adherence to policies and procedures as they apply to sales, service and operations
- Reviews, audits, modifies, and prepares a variety of operational and financial reports and general correspondence within required time limits
- Manages cost effectiveness of the branch to ensure branch profitability through examination of monthly income statement and balance sheet
- Participates in Notary Services as determined necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Capabilities:
- Must be flexible and willing to work in an interactive and dynamic team environment.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and customer service skills
- Strong knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Ability to lead by example in a team setting and work independently while performing duties
- Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities
- Must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to himself or herself or others
- Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance
- Must be able to work effectively either independently or as part of a team
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
- Must be able to demonstrate highest levels of customer service and confidentiality with internal and external customers
- Knowledge of bank operations, security policies, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of bank’s Wealth Management and lending services
- In-depth knowledge of all bank consumer and small business products and services
- Working knowledge of consumer and small business lending processes
- Demonstrated success in developing, maintaining and growing client relationships
- Proven ability to meet or exceed established sales and operational goals
