Bois d'Arc Lake Operator I Job at North Texas Municipal Water
Major Responsibilities:
1. Operate various types of equipment to include, but not limited to; mowers, trimmers, power tools, tractors, boats, vehicles and other equipment as needed.
2. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment with minimal supervision.
3. Inspections, upkeep, and operations of Bois d’ Arc Lake facilities as well as shoreline maintenance. This will require on water operations as well as land operations.
4. Responsible for observing safe work practices.
5. Required attendance while assisting in making preparations for special events.
6. Responsible for upkeep of all facilities indoor and outdoor; including collecting and disposing of trash and any debris on lake property and facilities.
7. Perform other duties as needed to fit the varying situations that may/will occur with normal day-to-day operations of the lake.
8. Assist in taking delivery of bulk chemicals and monitors unloading process and record into inventory processes.
9. Assists in maintaining thorough operational logs and records.
10. Makes visual inspections; monitors facilities and roads to insure adequate security.
11. Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on facilities; assists specialized trades personnel in making major and/or specialized repairs to equipment.
12. Observe safety guidelines as required by State statutes and as prescribed by the NTMWD. This includes identifying and mitigating safety hazards as well as assisting in the implementation of safety programs.
13. Learn and adhere to applicable NTMWD policies and procedures.
14. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Must have the ability to understand and follow directions given and be able to perform those task with minimal direct supervision.
2. Requires sustained mental attention regarding correct process adjustments for proper maintenance and operations of all Bois d’ Arc Lake facilities and equipment.
3. Requires basic knowledge of custodial, carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanics, landscaping and specialized equipment
4. Spatial discrimination; hand-eye-foot coordination; manual dexterity; generally good physical condition.
5. Must be able to operate a boat and complete water and boater safety courses upon hire.
6. Must communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with supervisors and peers to convey information.
7. Maintain basic computer skills and electrical and mechanical knowledge.
Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment
This position requires moderate to extensive physical exertion including: walking, carrying, dragging, holding, pulling, pushing, lifting, kneeling, bending, twisting body, reaching, and squatting; may be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Specific physical conditions require frequent work with chemicals, tools, machinery, moving mechanical parts, etc. Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, on level, slippery, sloping, unstable, and muddy terrain; and work in adverse environmental conditions to include inclement weather such as rain, sleet, snow, heat, sun exposure; as well as exposure to insects, noxious plants, and snakes, etc. Performs and reviews work at locations that involve hazardous environments requiring the physical ability to wear and work using personal protective equipment (PPE) that meet or exceed guidelines such as established by OSHA with may result in some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, odors, chemicals and noise. The position may require work in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops, and in adverse weather conditions with appropriate training.

Pay: $18.97 - $28.07 per hour
