What You Will Do
ESA is looking for full-time biological monitors in the vicinity of Fresno, CA or within 2-3 hours of driving time and willing to travel. Qualified candidates should have previous compliance monitoring experience and demonstrate the ability to perform all aspects of biological monitoring on large, complex construction projects. General experience with wildlife and vegetation species from the geographic area of work; California Central Valley, primarily the vicinity of Fresno, California. Direct experience surveying, handling and monitoring San Joaquin kit fox, California tiger salamander, and/or Swainson’s hawk is required. Successful candidates will fulfill the following duties:
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with mitigation/permit requirements
- Effectively communicate with construction crews, project personnel, and project management staff
- Write and maintain written daily monitoring and inspection logs, including utilizing electronic data collection tools such as Fulcrum
- Note and communicate compliance concerns and potential non-compliance
- Enter data into an on-line GIS mapping application
- Present a worker’s environmental awareness education program
- Staff may need to complete a background check for access to areas near railroad lines
ESA has established multiple pay ranges tailored to the economic factors in the geographies in which ESA staff reside. For this position the range is $25.49 – $36.97/hr based on our anticipated hiring location as noted in the above job details. Actual compensation is determined by a number of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, skills, and the city in which the applicant lives.
