Billing Coordinator - Accounts Receivable Job at Robert C. Byrd Clinic
We are seeking a Billing Coordinator - Accounts Receivable (AR) to provide patient revenue management support throughout the revenue cycle, with a focus on charge entry and denials.
Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in a business-related discipline preferred. Excellent computer skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail.
Experience:
At least one year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations or support highly preferred.
Experience using electronic health record (Athena) and practice management software highly preferred.
At least one year of AR experience highly preferred. Knowledge of collection laws preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Coding certification (Certified Professional Coder – CPC or Certified Coding Specialist - CCS) preferred
Reports to: A/R & Billing Manager
Supervises: Non-supervisory
Job Requirements:
- Provide patient revenue management support throughout the revenue cycle, including but not limited to billing and collections, financial counseling, insurance updates, and customer support.
- Process hospital charges, access hospital website to review all medical documentation, determine proper procedural and diagnostic codes, enter demographics and insurance information in Athena, post charges to Athena.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all third-party payment plans.
- Demonstrate understanding of CPT and ICD 10 codes to assist patients, providers, and nursing and reception staff with questions.
- Accurately complete charge entry processing to ensure claims are paid upon first billing & efficiently enter charges to meet timely filing requirement.
- Identify and improve processes to allow capturing of all charges for services being provided.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service while serving as a resource for patients and answering questions.
- Appropriately use RCBC’s EHR and practice management software.
- Work unpostables and Correspondence buckets. Work denials, watch for inaccuracies in allowable and payments received from all carriers.
- Watch for trends in denials that may indicate issues with coding, credentialing, and formatting that prevent carriers from paying on claims. Work with appropriate staff to resolve issues.
- Reconcile daily cash and credit card deposits.
- Enter various data into appropriate database system to complete or update information that pertains to the accounts receivable department.
- Perform any other job duties not specifically listed in this job description that relates to the overall accounts receivable department.
