Benefits Specialist Job at SM Energy
The Healthcare and Retirement Benefits Specialist will manage the delivery of the company’s retirement plans and healthcare benefits and provide guidance and support to the organization. Handle all aspects of administration of the company’s healthcare plans including, annual enrollment, vendor management, ACA forms, employee interface, etc… Handle administration of the company’s retirement plans including, bi-weekly 401(k) deferral file, vendor management, annual 401(k) true up, annual audits, discrimination testing, monitoring activity and preparation of pension distribution packages. Ensure that the company’s plans are administered consistently and in compliance with government rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Oversee annual enrollment, hosting educational webinars as needed
- Manage employee leaves
- Prep and audit ACA forms
- Manage vendor relationships
- Audit HSA and flexible spending accounts
- Represent the company at E27 conferences
- Review and process equity bi-weekly 401(k) deferral file
- Prepare for non-discrimination testing and 5500 filing
- Perform annual 401(k) true up
- Manage deferral election processes and communication during the year for the Execs and Board (Non-Qualified Deferred Comp Plan)
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
- Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:*
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or HR is required
- Minimum five years of experience in retirement plans or benefits administration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel
- Understanding of retirement plans and basic retirement plan laws
- Understanding of medical plans, flexible spending accounts and laws governing these plans
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain discretion and work with sensitive/confidential subject matter required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Salary Range:
$80,000-$110,000 plus annual discretionary bonus, medical, dental, vision, 401k and PTO
Schedule:
Hybrid work schedule
