Shawnee Health is seeking a at one of our Shawnee Health Service offices at Shawnee Health Care-Murphysboro. This position reports directly to the SUD Program Coordinator
Responsibilities
- Support and closely coordinate behavioral health and substance abuse care with the patient’s primary care provider and, when appropriate, other treating behavioral health providers.
- Screens patients for common behavioral health and substance abuse disorders utilizing evidence based tools.
- Monitor patients (in person or by telephone) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complication as reported by patient.
- Provide brief interventions using evidence‐based techniques such as problem‐solving, motivational interviewing, or other interventions appropriate for primary care settings.
- Facilitate in‐clinic or outside referrals to behavioral health and substance abuse treatment as clinically indicated.
- Document patient progress in the EHR so that they can be easily shared with PCPs, the BHS, psychiatrist, and other treating providers.
- Facilitate referrals for clinically indicated services outside the primary care clinic (e.g., social services such as housing assistance, vocational rehabilitation, mental health specialty care, substance abuse treatment).
Requirements
- Working towards Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
- Master’s in School Work/Counseling or related field
Starting salary - $51,320
Full-time employee benefits include:
- 12 vacation days earned in the first year

COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory condition of employment. Absent an approved exemption/accommodation, all employees must be fully vaccinated by receiving both doses of a two-dose vaccine series (Pfizer or Moderna) or one dose of the single-dose vaccine (Janssen) at least fourteen (14) days prior to or on their first day of work. If not already vaccinated, new hires cannot begin work until they: (1) are fourteen (14) days post one dose of the single-dose vaccine (Janssen); (2) are fourteen (14) days post second dose of a two-dose vaccine series (Pfizer or Moderna); or (3) receive an approved exemption/accommodation. Employees who refuse COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with this mandate absent an approved exemption/accommodation will be considered to have voluntarily resigned from employment or, if an individual has not yet started employment, their offer of employment will be withdrawn. Shawnee Health Service reserves the right to not offer employment to unvaccinated individuals if staffing needs cannot accommodate a delayed start date.
