Responsibilities:
To fulfill a variety of roles that, in concert with other members of the weight management team, can effectively and efficiently enhance the surgical weight loss program for the Garnet Health System. The evaluation of patients that have been unsuccessful achieving long term weight loss by non-surgical means and determine whether or not they would be appropriate candidates for weight loss surgery. To help prepare them properly for surgery, minimizing as many potential risks as possible from both a clinical and psychological stand point. To assist them with their postoperative care in both the hospital and office setting. The Bariatric Surgeon Candidate must have modern Laps skills (MIS) including the ability and experience to do revisions of surgeries laparoscopically. Must have proficiency in performing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, gastric balloon placement and sleeve gastrectomy surgery
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Completion ofMedical School in an accredited learning institution and completion of General Surgery Fellowship with additional training/certification in bariatric surgery.

Minimum Experience:
Experience with Bariatric Surgical Program. Board certified or Board Eligible within 5 years, fellowship trained in laparoscopic bariatric surgery techniques.

Required Certification/Registration:
M.D. or D.O. Active license to practice medicine in the state of New York. Be certified by an appropriate national specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Osteopathic Association or remain eligible for certification by such Approved Specialty Board, and become certified by such Approved Specialty Board within five (5) years after completion of the applicable residency or fellowship training. BLS and ACLS certified

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform surgery and provide physical assistance to morbidly obese patients in both a hospital and office setting.
