SRS Distribution is currently seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a large-scale project with a cutting-edge cloud environment and make a significant impact on our organization's overall success.

To accomplish their core duty of diagnosing and solving problems in complex computer systems, the Cloud Engineer is responsible for many tasks; including below

  • Diagnose System Problems - Monitors the performance of network and server systems in order to identify any issues. They routinely perform analysis and break/fix operations during normal IT Infrastructure operations, including on networks, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications, and devices.
  • Design Solutions - When issues are present, the Cloud Engineer works with the IT team and SRS vendors to determine the appropriate solution. The solution should solve the problem at hand as well as mitigate future issues. They will work closely with the Information Security team to ensure the plan is in accordance with security procedures.
  • Implement Solutions - Once a plan is formulated, Cloud Engineer either provide the plan to the IT team or work with the other organizational members to implement the necessary upgrades, patches or troubleshooting to solve the problem. They document the changes and follow all change management procedures.
  • Communicate Issues and Changes - Responsible for proactively communicating upcoming infrastructure changes to management, submit peer reviews, and work with the workforce to smooth transitions and decrease any negative impact on business.
  • Identify Opportunities for Improvement - uses his/her up-to-date knowledge of Cloud technologies to identify opportunities to use emerging technologies to increase efficiency and flexibility. They may formulate improvement plans and present them to leadership.

Candidate Attributes

  • Minimum of five years of general Infrastructure experience with a wide range of supporting all facets of technology infrastructure.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with Azure and Office 365
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in Terraform or other IaC tools like ARM Templates, Bicep or Ansible to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Azure DevOps: Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools for automated build, test, and deployment processes. Familiarity with Azure Repos, Pipelines, Artifacts, and Boards is crucial.
  • Must present a highly professional image and attitude and have excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Enjoys working in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment and comfortable working with people at all levels within a client organization.
  • We encourage creative thinking that leads to creative solutions and empower the Engineer to design and develop solutions to meet the changing needs of the organization.
  • Advanced experience with VNETs, subnets, Network Security Groups, VPN Gateways, Local Network Gateways, Virtual Network peering, Load Balancers, Availability Zones, Service Endpoints, and Private Endpoints.
  • Advanced experience of Azure Active Directory including using Azure AD Connect synching to on-premises Active Directory with write-back.
  • Advanced experience with Azure Virtual Machine capacity planning, performance monitoring, and Cost Management + Billing.
  • Advanced experience with Azure Storage and the various components thereof.
  • Advanced experience with planning for and moving on-premises and hosted workloads to Azure.
  • Basic experience with Azure Virtual Desktop with intermediate experience with any other session-based remote desktop solution.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps with the ability to collaborate with development teams throughout a project's lifetime.
  • Advanced experience with Site Recovery and planning, testing, and activating disaster recovery scenarios.
  • Solid understanding of various Azure PaaS solutions including but not limited to SQL managed instances, Power Platform, and Azure Function Apps.
  • Solid understanding of Terraform and building solutions with infrastructure-as-code.
  • Advanced experience performing system troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Advanced experience in Windows Server platforms particularly 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 - Standard and Enterprise versions.
  • Advanced experience with Office 365, Azure administration and design, Group Policies, virtual environments, and scripting.
  • Intermediate experience working with Linux Operating systems, 3rd party hosting providers and solution partners.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Active Directory and domain services.
  • Intermediate experience with remote management tools and Project Management experience.
  • Intermediate familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) can be beneficial for modernizing applications.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate tasks and interact with Azure services through REST APIs and SDKs
  • Intermediate working knowledge of network configurations including design and maintaining Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks, knowledge and experience with ground-up network installation and setup including servers, routers, switches, access points, and circuit configurations.
  • Understanding of security best practices, Azure Security Center, Azure policies, and compliance requirements to ensure a secure and compliant cloud environment.
  • Basic knowledge of web hosting and domain management.
