Avionics/Control System Integration Engineer II Job at Blue Origin

As part of a small and accomplished team of experts, your responsibility will span developing and implementing plans and procedures, for integrating, verifying, and validating engine controller hardware and software. This includes supporting multiple responsible engineers for the control system components (hardware, software, harnessing, instrumentation, valves, etc.) to facilitate successful integration and testing. You will be the integration and test team representative for the assigned engine program within the engine controller integration and test team, responsible for the integration, verification, and testing of controller sub-system.

Responsibilities:
- Integration, verification and validation of rocket engine control avionics
- Write and lead avionics system verification tests
- Establish tooling, equipment and software that supports high-rate production and acceptance testing of engines
- Development of automated verification tools and frameworks for HW/SW units under test
- Guide the development of Software in the Loop (SIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) test and verification environments
- Work with software and hardware development teams to iteratively improve their products
- Validate the overall system design and implementation
- Drive process improvements for verifying and delivering integrated engine control systems
- Building software and performing validation tests in a hardware in the loop environment
- Planning integration of new hardware, software, and test stand changes
- Design, build, maintain, and resolve issues with test support equipment
- Facilitate communication between the assigned engine program's software, hardware, I&T, and engine test teams
- General systems engineering support and design validation
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in a science or engineering field
- 3+ years of software or hardware development, integration, systems engineering, testing experience, and supporting avionics or similarly broad integration
- Excellent leadership abilities, coupled with technical written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
- Ability to read and write code in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, C#, Rust
- Experience operating within a production configuration management environment
- Experience leading, and supporting leaders, through a detailed formal verification process
- Passion for hands on problem solving and avionics integration
- Proven record of solving hardware/software problems in unfamiliar codebase/environment
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and ensure an inclusive culture
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired:
- 5+ years - software/hardware development and integration
- Aerospace system integration and systems engineering experience
- Experience developing or certifying DO-178 (avionics SW) & DO-254 (avionics HW)
- Experience with software continuous integration tools
- Experience with DOORS software
- Experience with Agile development
- Proficiency with the Rust/Python/C/Bash programming languages
- Understanding of ethernet networking (specifically with layer 2, multicast, and UDP)
- Ability to quickly analyze issues with low voltage Instrumentation and control systems, 4-20mA signals, and thermocouples

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $109,980-$161,304
